Chapter 19 nineteen

Mrs. Dandleridge babysited Gage while Rachel drove the kitten Church to surgery.Ellie was awake until after 11 that night, clamoring that she couldn't sleep without Church.She asked for glass after glass of water, and finally Louis refused to give her water, fearing that she would wet the bed, and Ellie screamed in a fit of rage.Rachel and Louise looked at each other, frowning. Rachel said, "She's scared for Church, Louis, let her vent." "She was screaming so loudly, I don't think it would last long," Louis said. Sure enough, Ellie's hoarse angry cry turned into a short cry, then a low hum, and finally fell silent.Louis went up to check and found his daughter asleep on the floor, clutching the sleeping pad of the kitten on which Church seldom deigned to sleep.Louis removed the sleeping pad, put her daughter on the bed, gently brushed her hair from her sweaty forehead to behind her ears, and kissed her daughter.Then impulsively walked into the small room that was Rachel's office, and wrote a few big words on a piece of paper boldly - I will be back tomorrow, dear Ellie.Love you Church.Then pin the note on the kitten's sleeping mat.Louis went back to his room, found Rachel, and the two made out and fell asleep in each other's arms.

Church came back on Friday, and Louis just had a week of work.Ellie was very kind to Church, bought him a box of cat food with part of her pocket money, and almost slapped Gage because Ellie refused to let Gage want to pet the kitten.This made Gage burst into tears, and the discipline of his parents had never been so severe.Ellie scolded him like this, as if he was scolded by God. Looking at Church, Louis felt uncomfortable.It was kind of ridiculous, but he just couldn't change the mood.Church no longer had the vigor of his body, and his walk was not so majestic. Now he walks like a convalescent patient, slowly and cautiously.Ellie can even hand feed it, and he no longer acts like he wants to go out for a run, not even to the garage.Church has changed, maybe it would be better if Church changed.
