Chapter 30 Cambodian domestic special envoy Ying Sally is busy with work in our country

In the early 1970s, the revolutionary struggles of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodian Indochina to safeguard national independence and oppose foreign aggression were surging and in full swing. The Chinese government and people fully support the just struggle of the Indochinese people. Here, among the many foreign security missions we perform, the three Indochinese countries account for a large part. This shows the friendly relationship between the Chinese people and the Indochinese people. In the spring of 1970, the Cambodian Lon Nol Group launched a coup with the support of the United States. The head of state, Prince Sihanouk, received strong support and warm welcome from the Chinese government, and flew from the Soviet Union to China to settle down.He began to live in Building 5 of Diaoyutai Hotel. Premier Zhou Enlai visited Building 5 many times to hold talks with Sihanouk and provide moral and material assistance to Cambodia. In December 1970, Prince Sihanouk and Prince Binnu moved to Dongjiaomin Lane on the east side of Tiananmen Square.

In the midsummer of August 1971, the special envoy sent by the Cambodian Government of National Unity and the National United Front came to Beijing.Sihanouk and Premier Zhou respectively held banquets to welcome Special Envoy In Sally. When Special Envoy Ying Salit arrived in Beijing, he lived in a hotel in Dongjiaomin Lane, where we even had guards, and lived on the same street not far from Sihanouk and Bin Nu.The hotel has beautiful scenery, simple and elegant. The inner courtyard is spacious and clean, dotted with trees and flowers, giving people a sense of tranquility and joy.On the east side of the courtyard, there is a western-style two-story building that runs from east to west, and every spring and summer, the flowers outside the building are in full bloom, colorful; The floor is covered with carpets, exuding wisps of fragrance, showing the luxury and grandeur of state-level hotels in the 1970s.

At that time, Ying Sally was about 40 years old, with a moderate build and a slightly dark face, which was the complexion of an Indochinese. He has piercing eyes and is very capable in handling affairs. He is a rare talent in Cambodia. It is said that In Sally was an important figure in the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia.Let him be a special envoy to China, and be the spokesperson sent by the Cambodian Communist Party to Beijing from China. His main tasks are: on the one hand, strengthen contacts with Prince Sihanouk and Prime Minister Bin Nu, enhance the contact and cooperation between Sihanouk and the Cambodian Communist Party, consolidate the government of national unity, and strengthen the cohesion and combat effectiveness of the two sides. On the other hand, according to the instructions and information sent by the leaders of the CPK in the country, communicate directly with the leaders of our country to seek a consistent position and view, and to obtain the support and help of the Chinese party and government.

Ying Sally is worthy of being a communist. Although he is far away from the domestic battlefield, but in a peaceful environment, he shoulders more arduous tasks than the front line of the war.He often worked late into the night, and sometimes our sentry came on duty in the middle of the night and found the lights in his office still on.Either to give feedback to the domestic situation, or to report or discuss with Sihanouk and Binnu based on the information sent from the domestic. He also often sends some important news to domestic editors. He always inquired about some important matters and handled them personally, and would never delay until tomorrow what could be dealt with on the same day, for fear of delaying domestic work.He kept in touch with Khieu Samphan, the commander-in-chief of the National Liberation Forces, and he mainly took orders from the Khmer Rouge in the country. He has strict requirements on his subordinates, except for working in the hotel, he never allows them to go out casually. He also often reminded our guards that if Prince Sihanouk or Prime Minister Binnu came to the hotel, he should be notified in advance to make preparations for the reception. He is very serious about his work.Ying Sally's life is very simple. He works and lives in my country for a long time without his wife and children.Apart from working in the building, he never went to other places for entertainment. When you are free, you can also go for a walk in the courtyard, or chat with the staff and guards. His greatest interest is to take a walk alone in Tiananmen Square on a pleasant night in spring and summer, admiring the splendid lanterns and the wide square, so as to eliminate fatigue and strengthen his energy. He thought it was safe to live in our country, but every time we sent plainclothes guards to make sure he was safe.

At that time, the three countries of Indochina were the focus of the Chinese government's attention, and Cambodia was the highlight of China's diplomacy. Both Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai dedicated their efforts to supporting the Cambodian Government of National Unity led by Sihanouk and Khieu Samphan.Although Ying Sally is only a special envoy in Cambodia, he has been highly valued by the Chinese party and government. At the end of 1973, due to domestic work needs, Ying Sally was going to return to China, and Premier Zhou held a farewell banquet for him.Even the guards and soldiers of mine, who have been with Ying Sally for many years, also shared the deep friendship and said goodbye to him reluctantly. In 1974 and 1975, as the special advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Ing Sally led a government economic delegation to visit China for many times. Every time he visited, he was received by Premier Zhou in the hospital.

Ying Sally, as a Cambodian domestic special envoy, has made special contributions to enhancing the friendship between China and Cambodia.
