Chapter 21 The hard-to-see Chinese Revolutionary History Museum

The Chinese Revolutionary History Museum (hereinafter referred to as Zhongbo) is located on the east side of Tiananmen Square, echoing the Great Hall of the People. Its extraordinary momentum highlights the harmony and masculinity of Tiananmen Square.Zhongbo was built in 1959 and is one of the "Ten Buildings" built to welcome the 10th anniversary of the founding of New China. On February 28, 2003, it was renamed the National Museum of China. In the 1970s, my company guarded Zhongbo with a platoon for ten years.I was basically not on duty at Zhongbo, but just temporarily stood on a few shifts like a cameo in a movie. But because it is the target of my company's security guards, and I often watch movies, study, and hold conferences in Zhongbo, so I am very familiar with it and have deep feelings for it.

Zhongbo is divided into two parts, the northern half is the Chinese Revolution Museum (Gebo), and the southern half is the Chinese History Museum (Libo). The main entrance (west gate) is composed of 24 large square columns in the north and south rows inserted directly into the roof of the building, which shows that the dignified history came from here.Climbing up the steps from its gate is a wide open well.Pass through the patio and climb up the steps to enter the front hall with polished floors. The left side of the front hall is Tonggebo, the right side is Libo, and the back is the magnificent, noble and elegant central hall (main hall). There are two square-shaped patios on the left and right sides of the main hall, which provide bright light for the main hall. The main hall is mainly used for temporary exhibitions commemorating major historical events.

There are a large number of precious revolutionary cultural relics in Gebone, coupled with rich video materials and detailed written records, it is the most authoritative revolutionary history education base in my country.Pieces of ancient living and working articles unearthed in the Libo show the 600,000 to 700,000-year evolution history of human beings from apes to humans; pieces of priceless historical relics record the history from the three ancestors of the Yellow Emperor, Yandi, and Chiyou to the The history of the development of the civilization of the Chinese nation in modern times for 5,000 years, wandering in it, is like being there in person, as if it is better than reading ten years of history books.

In order to protect these precious cultural relics in the museum, we have set up guard posts at the west, north and east gates.Especially at the west gate, which can be called the widest gate in China, there are sentinels on both sides of the gate.In addition to these day and night fixed posts, there are also sentry chiefs who patrol continuously to deal with problems in a timely manner. For the internal staff entering and leaving the museum, the new fighters are led by the veterans, and first check the personnel's entry and exit through the combination of identification and certification. After getting familiar with the staff, they will be the same as the veterans. Attached, it is convenient for the staff to enter and exit, and there will be no problem of putting the wrong person into the library. From winter to spring, the four seasons cycle, no matter the scorching sun or the cold wind and snow, day after day, year after year, the soldiers, driven by the great mission, performed their duties hard to ensure that the cultural relics of Zhongbo are intact.

In that politically sensitive and special era, as the highest exhibition hall recording the long history of the Chinese nation and the difficult course of the Chinese revolution, the final completion of some exhibitions was often full of twists and turns.Calligraphers and painters, including Fan Zeng, have just finished making exhibition boards according to the manuscripts that have been approved. Again and again, it may be due to the historical positioning of Confucius, or who is Confucianism or Legalism in history, or because of slave society and feudal society. Whether it is the division between Mao Zedong and Zhu De in Jinggangshan or whether Mao Zedong and Lin Biao joined forces in Jinggangshan (the meeting between Mao Zedong and Zhu De in Jinggangshan became the meeting between Mao Zedong and Lin Biao in Jinggangshan before the "Lin Biao incident")..., over and over again Large-scale revisions have been carried out everywhere, which have made the exhibitions of the two major histories (Chinese history and revolutionary history) of Zhongbo Museum unable to be displayed publicly.Sometimes, according to the requirements of the superiors, the exhibition boards were put up with great effort, and they were afraid of political problems, so they would conduct internal visits for a while. We are often even invited by museums to have a sneak peek. After each visit, comrades in the museum have to ask for our opinions and suggestions, but we soldiers dancing with guns, although we are in the museum and close to Zhu Zhechi, we can only offer some superficial suggestions, not the point. The cautious opening to the outside world is also intermittent, opening and stopping from time to time, and the number of people who can enter and visit is limited. In particular, Gebo's exhibition is nowhere in sight. There is less time in front of the gate of Zhongbo, but there is a lot of time when the crowd is empty, which makes Zhongbo have a sense of mystery. But it's no wonder that Zhongbo's ups and downs are due to that era.

At that time, there was an exception for foreign guests participating in exhibitions, especially those visiting foreign dignitaries. As long as the foreign affairs department arranged to participate in the exhibition, the museum would seriously receive them and provide high-quality commentators to give explanations.Of course, the content of the exhibition is generally the Chinese history exhibition in the calendar. When these foreign heads of state and government browsed the history of China's development, they were very interested in rare cultural relics such as Zhang Heng's seismograph. Our side focuses on China's "Four Great Inventions", the ancient Silk Road, the excavation of the Grand Canal, and the construction of the Great Wall, which are well-known at home and abroad, so that they can understand the development history of ancient civilization in this great country and a long history of foreign exchanges.

From 1975 to 1978, Zhongbo gradually broke through the shackles of the left, so that the two major exhibitions of Chinese history and revolutionary history were finally opened to the public. At the same time, the Central Hall and Gebo also held exhibitions such as "Exhibition Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Red Army's Long March Victory", "Cloisonné Crafts Exhibition", "Iranian Oil Painting Exhibition", and "Exhibition of Premier Zhou Enlai's Life and Stories".These high-grade exhibitions have caused a sensation in the capital, and tickets are hard to come by.Outside the west gate of Zhongbo, there is a lot of traffic all day long, and people's heads are moving, and the exhibition hall is bustling with people, showing the vitality of Zhongbo. In particular, the two large-scale exhibitions "Exhibition Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Victory of the Red Army's Long March" and "Exhibition of Premier Zhou Enlai's Life and Deeds" have left deep memories for people.Chairman Zhu De led the generals to visit the Long March exhibition, which is not only a memory of the tens of thousands of martyrs who died during the Long March, but also a spiritual comfort for the older generation of revolutionaries. When people saw the gray Chinese tunic suit, pajamas and shirts with patches that Premier Zhou wore last, they couldn't help crying.A good prime minister who has dedicated himself will always live in people's hearts.
