Fifty years is a short moment in the history of a thousand years, and it is a long time in a hasty life.This booklet about life, republished in its half-century, undoubtedly marks the "fair and clear" of history and the "meaningful and eternal" of life. It is the first collection of Mr. Qian Zhongshu, compiled by Ms. Yang Jiang (that is, "Ji Kang" mentioned in the gift book page), first published by Shanghai Kaiming Bookstore in 1941, and published by Fujian People's Publishing Company in 1982 Included in "Shanghai Anti-Japanese War Literature Series"; in 1988, Taipei Shulin Publishing Company included "Qian Zhongshu Works Collection".However, its total printing volume is only a few thousand volumes, and there are very few collectors in the first-class libraries in China, let alone readers and researchers.

In the process of preparing the reprint of this book, the biggest problem we encountered was Mr. Qian Zhongshu himself.He didn't love his own short work, let alone rewrite it in a new way, and doubted its value in reprinting.After we repeatedly explained the actual needs of the readers, especially the errors and omissions of several printed editions, the husband said helplessly: first, we will not rewrite the preface or postscript of this book or make changes; The comrades in the computer room of the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences who made the characters, typesetting and printing, to help the development of their careers.

This book is based on the 1982 edition revised by Mr. Qian and checked by Yang Runshi and Le Guiming. When we dedicate this book to readers and researchers, it coincides with the 80th birthday of Mr. Qian Zhongshu, and we also pay tribute to this writer and scholar.
