Chapter 16 Part I, Verse 17: Cicadas on the Eighth Day (17)

"Hey, are you homeless?" Suddenly someone spoke to me. I was startled, and when I looked up, there was a woman standing in front of me.I don't know how many clothes she put on, she is obviously not tall, but her upper body is stuffed like a giantess.Under the fluffy long skirt, feet in thick socks stick out, and sandals are pulled on the feet.Skin is radiant but does not look youthful.She is a woman with incredible appearance who can't tell her age at all. "No, I'm just resting." I said cautiously and fearfully.The woman looked serious and sighed harshly.

"Haven't you been here all this time?" she says.As soon as she told me, I realized that the setting sun that was still hanging on the building just now only left the light to shine on the western sky, and the east has begun to be stained with ultramarine blue. "You're homeless!" The woman said decisively, and stretched out her hand to Kaoru.I dodged the woman's arm immediately, and hid Kaoru in my arms.The woman sighed again.Kaoru hid in my arms and continued to cry even louder. The woman frowned.I turned my back to the woman and comforted Kaoru. "Will it be cold? Hey, are you coming to my house?" A woman's voice came from behind.I turned my head tremblingly.Still frowning, the woman leaned her head over my shoulder to look at Kaoru. "I won't do anything, I just say that because I see the baby is pitiful." The woman sighed harshly again. "No, uh, we should go back." "You have nowhere to go, I said you can come to my house." I keep my eyes on the woman.Who is this man?Is it a bad guy, or a good guy?What is the purpose?But no matter how I look at it, I can't see what her intentions are, what her real intentions are.Kaoru blushed and continued to cry.can i go with herThe woman looked at me with those emotionless eyes reminiscent of marbles.

I closed the front of my coat and wrapped Kaoru in my arms, carrying the travel bag.Although a voice in my head told me not to go with her, I decided to go with the woman anyway.The only thing that can be robbed is money, which is better than Kaoru being robbed.I justify it in my heart. The woman walked out of the park, and without looking back, walked along the walkway that bordered the wide driveway.I walked behind her several meters away.The woman's bloated back, stuffed with clothes, was blindly illuminated by the headlights of the car and the neon lights of the storefront, and then sank into darkness.Kaoru's cries buzzed like earplugs, sounding wah-wah-wah.Why are you crying like this?Are you warning me not to go?That must be the case, telling me not to go.Even though I thought so, I still stared at the woman's back and continued to walk.

The woman suddenly turned the corner.Before I knew it, I became a jogger.Turning around the same corner, I saw the woman's back still walking.Across the dark river, the hustle and bustle of the bustling urban area disappeared.The surrounding area was dark except for the street lights.Even the street lamps were either broken or flickering, accentuating the darkness around them.Not everything, however.White street lamps illuminate the houses.It seems that time has also been transcended when crossing the river, and there are old bungalows as far as the eye can see.Unbelievably, there are no lights in every house, and there is a dead silence.
