Chapter 1 preamble
In this narrative book of mine, I break away from convention by only describing some of the cases and scenes I have personally handled and surveyed in the first person, while other chapters are written in the third person.
I want readers to believe that the plot in the book is true.Although it is too delicate to describe the thoughts and feelings of various characters, I guarantee that this is all my detailed notes at that time.In addition, my friend Hercule Poirot proofread them himself.
In conclusion, the reason why I have written so much of the minor human relationships involved in this peculiar series of crimes is that the human and personal element can never be ignored.Hercule Poirot once taught me in a very humorous way that romance is often the shadow of crime.
With regard to the ABC series of murders, all I can say is that, in my opinion, Poirot displayed a real genius in solving problems in a way that completely broke with his usual habit of solving cases.
