Chapter 18 Chapter 18 Derek's Dinner Party

Derek Kettering went straight back to the dining room of the Neglescu Hotel, bought a few glasses of wine, and drank them as fast as he could. Then, he disappeared into the bustling crowd. He was sullen, and felt that these people were boring and poorly dressed, and that they were not interested in everything. But when he approached a woman, his chagrin dissipated immediately. She was wearing a combination of orange and black, with a small hat covering her face.Caitlin ordered a fourth glass of wine and stared out at the sea.Just as he was fascinated, a strong smell of perfume stimulated his sense of smell, and he found the lady standing beside him, and his body twitched involuntarily. Now he saw her face clearly. She is Millet. The lady looked at him with provocative and threatening eyes and smiled, a smile Kaitlyn had long been familiar with.

"Derek," she said softly, "are you happy to see me?" The lady sat down next to him, but Kaitlyn just stood there dumbfounded. "I'm not welcome?" "What an unimaginable delight!" said Derek. "When did you leave London?" She shrugged. "Two or three days ago." "And what about the Parthenon?" "The Parthenon robbed me of everything." "yes?" "Why, aren't you happy for my presence?" "Are you happy with what you're looking forward to?" Mi Lei took a few puffs of cigarettes and said:

"Don't you think things are being rushed too soon?" Derek looked at her, then shrugged his shoulders and asked stiffly: "Are you here for lunch?" "Of course, with you." "I'm sorry," Derek said. "I have a very important appointment." "Oh, you men are all children," said the dancer, "yes, you look like a sick child in front of me, and you've been like a sick child ever since you left my room in a bad mood that day." My child, I can't stand it!" "My dear," said Derek, "I don't understand what you're talking about! We said it when we were in London: the rats are leaving the sinking ship. There's really nothing else to say!"

He seemed to be saying these words indifferently and casually, but the expression on his face was worried and nervous.Mi Lei suddenly bent down and said, "Don't worry about me. I know, you did that for me." He stared at her.She whispered something in Derek's ear, and Derek quieted down, and Miley nodded. "Don't be afraid, I will keep silent. You are very kind! You have shown courage. But, after all, the idea was my idea. You remember what I said in London, that accidents may happen. You Isn't it safe now? Haven't the police suspected you yet?" "Damn it!"

"Hush!" She held up the orange hand with the jeweled ring. "Let's not talk about that. The time of worry is over. Our life together will be very good, very good!" Suddenly Derek laughed--a hoarse and unpleasant laugh. "The rats are back on board! Two million pounds works, doesn't it? I've thought of that!" he laughed. "You'll help me spend these two million pounds, won't you, Millet? You have a fabulous talent for spending money!" "Shhhhhh!" the dancing girl hissed in a low voice. "What's the matter with you? People surrounded us."

"What's wrong with me? I'm about to tell you: Our relationship needs to be cut off! Mi Lei, cut it off!" Mi Lei was a little surprised by these words, she glanced at Derek, and smiled again. "What a child you are! You are very troubled now, and you are sick because I am too practical. I have always told you that I cannot live without you." She continued, bowing her head: "But I know you, Derek. Look at me! You should know you can't live without me. I'm going to make your life a dream. You know, there's no one who loves you like Miley."

Her eyes sparkled. She saw Derek pale and short of breath.A smug smile began to appear on her face.Once again she felt like a winner. "We're done, aren't we?" she whispered. "How about now? Shall we have dinner together?" "No!" With a long sigh, he stood up. "I'm so sorry. I already told you that I have an appointment today." "You're eating with someone else? I don't believe it!" "I want to dine with the lady across the way." Then he left the table and approached the lady in white who was coming down the stairs. They exchanged pleasantries for a while.

"Miss Grey, may I treat you to dinner? We met at Ms. Templin's, of course you remember." Caterina looked at him with a sad and thoughtful look, which made a special impression. "Very pleased," she replied after a moment's silence. "You are very kind."
