tide of darkness 亚伦·罗森伯格 6699Words 2018-03-12
Gul'dan was very annoyed. "Why haven't you succeeded yet?" he demanded, as the other orcs stood cowering around him. They had seen the wrath of the chief warlock before, and knew that at any moment he might drop his prodigious power on the heads of their group "We are trying, Gul'dan," replied Rakmar. He is the oldest surviving wizard besides Gul'dan.Rakmar Sharpfang is the unofficial leader of the group of wizards, and he acts as the high-ranking sorcerer who reports their successes—or failures. "We've been able to animate those corpses, but we can't make them conscious. They're just shells. We can make them like puppets, but they move very slowly. They pose no real threat to anyone. .”

Gul'dan stared at the bodies that stood before Rokamar. These were human warriors who had died in the battle of Stormwind, and they should have been a strong army for the Horde, just as he had promised Doomhammer. But before that, his bunch of useless assistants have to turn them into something better than the dull puppet he's seeing now. "Find a way!" Gul'dan roared, saliva spattering from his mouth. He clenched his fists lest he couldn't control himself and killed all those assistants, which wouldn't do him any good.If they were dead, they would be of little use to him—

A thought suddenly hit his mind, and Gul'dan was rocked back and forth by the brilliance of the idea.Of course! This is the answer. "You are right, Rokama," he said softly, opening his clasped hands and smoothing his robes. "You guys are trying, and I get that. It's a new venture for us, and it's a good challenge for anyone. I don't have the right to be angry that you haven't succeeded. Now, Please go back to your work, and I will let you continue the experiment quietly." "Thank you very much," stammered Rokama, his eyes wide open, and Gul'dan could see that the orc was as surprised by his sudden change as the warlocks behind him.He stopped his chuckle, gave them his usual nod and turned to leave.Let them think he's got a better idea, or let them feel so distracted by something else that they forget why they're mad at them.Let them do what they want.

Soon, this won't make any sense anymore. As he walked, he glanced around him.Cho'gall was nearby as usual—the ogre mage crouched in a ruined house not far away, close enough if Gul'dan needed him, and yet To make him invisible to the other orc wizards so as not to upset them with his presence.Gul'dan beckoned, and the two-headed ogre stood up and walked towards him, his long strides quickly closing the distance between them. "These wizards have done their duty," Gul'dan said to his tall lieutenant. "Now, they will have a new responsibility, a greater responsibility," he said with a smile, patting his beard. "Bring our instruments. We need to make a sacrifice."

"We will call those brothers who died?" Rokama asked slowly. He and the other wizards were standing on the altar that Gul'dan and Cho'gall had built, and Gul'dan could tell they were trying to guess what was going on.Let them guess.By that time, it will be too late. "Yes." Gul'dan replied, concentrating on the spell he was about to perform. "Doomhammer killed the other warlocks but their spirits still linger around. We will summon them and stuff them into those human corpses." He opened his mouth and smiled. "They will be eager to return to this world and fight for the Horde once more."

Lokama nodded. "It really brings life to them," he agrees. "But does that give them strength? Or are they only slightly better than a walking corpse?" Gul'dan frowned, surprised and unhappy that the wizard pointed this out so quickly. "Quiet!" He ordered, vetoing other questions first. "We start now!" He began the ritual, calling upon his mana and feeling himself energized. It's not enough now, but that will change soon.Meanwhile, he focused on his work, connecting his energies to the altar in front of him, preparing for the changes he would awaken.

Rokamar and the other wizards also took part, incorporating their own sorcerous powers into his spells. Now they were so distracted by this that they didn't notice that Gul'dan had moved from his place, it was too late. "Woo!" Gul'dan couldn't control the roar that overflowed from his mouth, but it didn't matter. He was already standing behind Rokamar, a curved dagger ready to slash through the wizard's throat. The blood sprayed out in an arc and splashed on the two of them. Rokama couldn't stand still. He was holding on to his wound tightly, panting for the sky.He fell onto the altar, gasping in horror, and tried to get himself out.But Gul'dan stood above him, and he sat astride the dying wizard, patting his hands. Then he inserted the dagger into Rokama's chest, dug a big hole forcefully, and stretched his hand in. With a burst of rapid pulling, Rokama's still beating heart was taken out.Gul'dan began to cast the magic he had prepared before the assistant's eyes. His spell sealed the blood-stained organ and locked Rokamar's soul inside. The mana of the altar began to burn violently, surrounding the heart, the heart was squeezed and slowly hardened, and then showed a very unnatural luster. With the wizard dead, his body now a hollow shell, Gul'dan smiled at him and picked up the fiery gem.

"Fear not, Rokama," he assured the dead orc. "This does not spell your end. Instead, you will complete your mission with my help. You will fight for the Horde once again. Then Doomhammer will get the undead warrior he wants." He said Laughing. "That's a very good thing for wizards - we never waste a single thing." He looked up.Cho'gall has slain many wizards, preserving their hearts and souls in the same gem form. The rest were trembling, their mana still gripped by the altar, unable to escape and too frightened to fight.Gul'dan snorted.Useless! He was still ready to fight. But it also made what he was doing easier. Finally he laughed and walked over to the remaining warlocks, licking the blood off his teeth.Soon, these men will become belligerent enough to satisfy even the most bloodthirsty of commanders.

"So?" Doomhammer asked as he stepped across the plain. "You have succeeded?" This sentence made Gul'dan immediately think of the similar words he yelled at the group of wizards a few days ago. This time, though, the answer will be very different. "Yes, Exalted Doomhammer," he replied, gesturing toward the bodies behind him.Doomhammer pushed him away with his shoulder and glared in the direction Gul'dan wanted him to look. "Those are Stormwind soldiers who died in battle." Doomhammer cursed angrily. "What are those? Or are you telling me to come here and show me that you can keep dead bodies neatly arranged?" he sneered. "Is this the limit of your ability, and then, Gul'dan? Are you going to bury these corpses?"

Gul'dan tried to ignore the smirk on his leader's face, lest he couldn't help showing the foolish and conceited warrior his true power. But now is not the time. "Of course not," he replied, enough words to sharpen Doomhammer's gaze. "Look!" He nodded to Cho'gall, who was kneeling before the first corpse and placed a gem-encrusted staff in his stiff hand. These enchanted weapons were the most time-consuming part of the process, but Gul'dan knew that without them, his new army would lack sufficient capabilities, as Rokamar had guessed.Luckily, he and Cho'gall had successfully experimented with something that met his requirements, so they modified their plan a little and found a weapon that suited their new role.

As he and Doomhammer watched, the corpse suddenly moved. His fingers tightly grasped the short stick that was slowly starting to shine. This ray of light began to extend from the hands of the body, and slowly a green halo along the arms filled the entire body. Then the corpse opened his eyes. Doomhammer was slightly taken aback, but he made no sound. This time it was Gul'dan's lips that made a sneer gesture. He couldn't blame the warchief for the shock, though. He himself stares there intently, the one who created the creatures. The corpse slowly stood up.His movements were stiff at first, then swift, and he stared at Gul'dan with burning red eyes that the orc warlock recognized. "Looks like you've succeeded, Gul'dan," the man said, slurring his words through a different mouth and strangely small teeth. He looked down at his arms and torso, then touched his face with his free hand. "You brought my soul back into this world!" he laughed in a rough voice that was more orc than human. "so perfect!" "Welcome back, Talon Gorefiend," Gul'dan replied.Trying to hold back the smirk in his voice. "Yes, I brought you back and made you serve the Horde again." Doomhammer walked up quickly, sizing up the stranger in front of him. "Bloodfiend? A warlock from the Shadow Council? I think I killed him myself." "We all gave ourselves to the Horde," Gul'dan replied mockingly, keeping his head low so Doomhammer could not see the expression on his face. "The spirit of the Gorefiend never leaves the plane - I just summoned them a little and found them a new home. His body has been imbued with sorcery. He is now stronger than ever, So do the other warlocks." Cho'gall continued with his task, and more bodies began to stand after the Gorefiend. "This, then, is what you gave me?" Doomhammer said. "The corpse of a warrior, manipulated by your dead acolytes?" His face contorted in disgust. "You are asking for warriors," Gul'dan reminded. "I guarantee this, they will not only have the abilities of humans, although their bodies are those of rotting humans, but they still have the souls and loyalty of orcs. They can still cast their spells! Think of them on the battlefield What can you do!" Doomhammer nodded slowly, obviously considering all this. "You will obey my orders?" he asked the Gorefiend. This attitude has always been regarded by Gul'dan as Doomhammer's fatal flaw.Warchiefs never ask, they only order.Though maybe it's a good idea not to piss off the creatures too. The Gorefiend thought for a while, sizing up the warchief with fiery eyes. Finally he nodded. "Gul'dan was right," he said finally, his voice harsh. "Outside of this body I am still an orc, I was born for the Horde, and I will fight for you and our people." He smiled, a creepy smile. "You killed me, but I won't hold you against it. That incident led to my powerful new form. I'm happy with the deal." The bodies behind him also nodded. "Very good." Doomhammer took a few steps forward, and patted the somewhat surprised Gorefiend on the shoulder. This was a gesture of respect for a person of equal status rather than a subordinate. "You will be my death knight, fighting at the forefront of our great Horde," he announced to the others. "Together we will smash the humans and take their lands, and make this world a safe place for us to live!" Then he turned and nodded to Gul'dan, though reluctantly. "You have fulfilled your promise, Gul'dan," said Doomhammer. "You have given me a formidable force against our enemies. For that I thank you." "That's what I should do, Exalted Doomhammer," Gul'dan replied, hoping his voice conveyed sincerity. "I will do anything for our people." idiot. He thought as he watched Doomhammer go, the newly awakened death knights following them.Take them away, fine, and get back to your wars.I have other things to do, and because of your satisfaction, I will have more freedom to concentrate on these things.I will continue to play the loyal warlock, he vowed, but not forever.Soon I shall have what I seek, and you and this Horde shall be lost before me forever.I will set up a new force to replace you, a force that is only loyal to me, and then we will transform the world according to my plan! A week later, Doomhammer gathered the entire Horde for a speech. They gathered in front of a stronghold that Zul'jin told him was called Blackrock Spire, a massive structure built of black stone like its surroundings. He is located at the top of Blackrock Mountain, which towers over the highest point of the Burning Steppe Mountains.Zuluhed once came here and felt the power hidden deep in the mountains. When the few dwarves who lived here were eliminated, Doomhammer took this place. Then he chose this place as the base of the Horde, because he thought it was a very good sign. Below him, orcs from various clans waited eagerly for his speech. They have completely conquered this continent, and although there are better game and richer land than their homeland, it is still far from enough to accommodate all of them. And there's still some question about fighting back - they've driven humans off the continent but that doesn't guarantee they won't come back with reinforcements or allies.Doomhammer smiled. But now, he also has his own allies. "My people!" he roared, raising his hammer aloft. "Listen to me." The people fell silent, all faces turned to him. "We have seized this land, which is very good!" Suddenly burst into cheers.Doomhammer didn't continue until the cheering stopped. "This world is very survivable, and we can rebuild our home here!" Another burst of cheers rang out. "But first of all, there must be no guardians! Humans are very powerful and skilled, and they will try very hard to take back what once belonged to them." A voice of agreement spread throughout the tribe. It is not a sign of weakness to admit to a very powerful enemy, and humans clearly belong to this enemy. Many orcs who have fought them agree on this point. "We must continue our conquest!" Doomhammer said to his people, pointing the hammer north. "There is another land, Lordaeron, not far from this land. Once we capture it, we can settle down, start building our home, and then rebuild our family. But first we must Take him from the humans. They don't give in easily." Many shouts coalesced into one voice, showing their desire to fight.Doomhammer raised a hand to stop them. "I know you're all strong," he assured them. "I know you are all warriors and never show cowardice in war. But the Men are plentiful, and this time, they will be prepared." He leaned on his hammer. "But they were unprepared for our allies." He gestured behind him, and Zukin stepped forward. The leader of the forest trolls led hundreds of his tribe to the meeting, who lined up behind him and Doomhammer, raising their axes, short swords, and spears. "These are forest trolls." Doomhammer introduced to the orcs below. "Now they are all of the Horde and will fight with us. They have the strength of an ogre and the cunning of an orc, and no one can defeat them in the forest! They will be our guides, our Scouts, and our Forest Warriors!" Zu'kin walked forward, his long scarf fluttering in the wind. "We swear allegiance to the Horde," he announced, his voice clear despite the fabric covering his mouth. "We will fight with you, and together we will destroy Men, Elves, and any enemy that may stand before us." The orcs and forest trolls began to cheer, and Zul'jin nodded before stepping back. "They are not our only allies," Doomhammer announced. He turned, and the Gorefiend strode up, the other death knights following him. They covered their faces to hide their ugliness, and a heavy cloth was wrapped around their heads and faces so that only the eyes were visible. But the Horde could see their broad shoulders and chests, and the Gorefiend raised their cudgels high, the jewels of this weapon shining brightly even with the sun overhead. "We are death knights." The blood demon's voice dragged on.His unfamiliar voice made the words feel like a cold wind blowing across the ground. "We swear allegiance to the Horde, and to Doomhammer. We will fight as well as any of you, and then wipe all enemies of the Horde from this world!" They once asked Doomhammer not to let other orcs know their True to form, Doomhammer agreed. Many would not be happy to know that these new warriors were the orcs themselves, the warlocks he had killed before Gul'dan put their souls into the bodies of dead humans. "Death knights will be our cavalry and our vanguard," Doomhammer yelled. "They are powerful and fast, and can unleash dark magic to tear through the defenses of our enemies." He paused. "We may soon gain another ally," he admitted. He also hopes that these things can be ready now, but Zuluhed told him that their clan needs more time to prepare. But for now, enough is enough. "March north," Doomhammer told his people. "Cross this land and enter Khaz Modan, home of the dwarves. It is rich in metal and charcoal. We can use those resources to build a fleet that is always strong. With the help of these ships we can sail north to Luo Danren, those humans will not think of us marching by water. We will land in the west and fight back, attacking them from their rear. We will smash their defenses, and then we will rule that map and make this world ours world!" The Horde began to cheer again, their cries getting louder and louder, and even the surrounding stones began to echo.Doomhammer felt something pounding beneath his feet, shaking the mountaintop, and he turned to look at the Zuluhed standing behind him.The cries and battle cries of his people should not disturb the mountain itself! But the old shaman nodded. "It's the volcano that speaks," Zuluhed said slowly, stepping forward so that only Doomhammer could hear him. "The souls of this mountain are very content." He smiled, showing his worn teeth. "They're blessing us." Doomhammer nodded. The rocks were still trembling when he raised his hammer again. Those shouts started to turn into saying his name. "Doomhammer!" they shouted, and a rumble followed their shout. The sky began to darken. "Doomhammer!" shouted again, and the air began to thicken. "Doomhammer!" they yelled for the third time, and lava and rocks began to erupt with a crash from the mountain. The shouts of the tribe became louder, and they were not afraid of this. They all, like the Zuluhed, considered these a blessing, the support of their actions from the earth itself. Doomhammer kept the turmoil going, all of which showed their respect and loyalty to themselves, and could make his people more enthusiastic. He then pointed his weapon north. "Go!" he roared. "Let man tremble before us!"
