"Did you meet Gigi on the way?" Helen asked when Phil came to the dance. "No," Phil replied, "isn't he home?" Helen shook her head and said, "Maybe I'll be back soon." Phil opened the case and took out the guitar. "I haven't been able to find a new cop either," he said. "Nobody knows his address, and I guess he hasn't been here long." Helen glanced at the gate, her mind was not on the new policeman. "It's terrible," she said. "We'll see him before the next dance," Phil said. "If he goes to Green's again, I'll let you know, okay?"

"I think it's worth a try," said Helen. "I mean the next time he comes with his violin," Phil said, "not when he comes to take our names." Partygoers came in in twos and threes and made their way to the makeshift bar.Helen put down the concertina and walked to the door.As night fell, she looked into the dark yard, only to see cars parked there.Another party-goer walks in. "Did you meet Gigi on the road?" she asked anxiously. Anne Kulff had just deflated the front wheel of Gigi's bike when the phone rang, and her watch was almost hitting ten.She picked up the phone and, as expected, it was Helen Liddy.After listening to the phone, Annie said, "Yes, he delivered the cheese, but he has been away for a while, around five o'clock."

"Did he say where he was going?" "No idea. He was very concerned about your birthday present." Anne replied.indeed so. "My birthday present?" "He's going to buy you something." "Oh," said Helen, "he said he was going to Jamie Dowling, but Jamie's said he hadn't seen him yet. He may have gone to someone else's." "Perhaps," said Annie. "He left his bike with a flat tire somewhere. I said give it to him, but he wouldn't." "Oh, it's probably because of this." Helen breathed a sigh of relief, "It might be because of someone else's car."

Annie hung up the phone and sank into the chair closest to her.She didn't intend to worry Gigi's parents, but when she thought about it, she didn't have any plans in advance.Maybe Gigi should be brought back before Helen gets more anxious, but if he succeeds in getting the gift Helen wants, she will get more compensation, so waiting a little longer is not a bad thing.
