Chapter 60 Part 4 Becky is going on TV - 10

frightened pile of letters I put the key in the lock and slowly opened the apartment door.I'm finally back at the apartment, and it feels like I've been away for a million years.I feel like a completely different person now.I grew up, or changed, or... "Hi!" I said cautiously into the silent room, and put the bag on the floor. "Someone..." "Becky!" Suzie appeared at the living room door, panting. She was wearing black leggings, and in her hand was a photo folder that was half-made out of denim. "Oh my god! Where have you been? What have you been up to? I saw you on "Morning Coffee" and I couldn't believe my eyes! I called the show to talk to you Talked, but they said you had to be financially troubled. So I was like, well, where should I invest £500,000? But they said it doesn't count..." She broke off abruptly. "Becky, where have you been? What the hell happened?"

I didn't answer her question right away. All my eyes were on the pile of letters addressed to me on the desk.A white official envelope, a brown window envelope, and an envelope with "Ultimatum" threateningly written on it.The most frightening pile of letters I have ever seen in my life! It's just that for some reason...they don't look so scary now. "I was at my parents' house." I looked up, "and then I was on TV." "But I called your parents! They said they didn't know where you were!" "I know." I felt my face burn, "They're...protecting me from harassment." I looked up to see Suzy staring at me completely incomprehensibly.I think it's quite reasonable. "Besides," I added defensively, "didn't I leave a message on the phone to tell you not to worry about me? I'm fine."

"I know," Suzy groaned, "but it happens a lot in movies too. It means the gangsters have kidnapped you, and they're holding a gun to your head! Seriously, I thought you Dead! I thought you were chopped up somewhere." I looked at her face again. She's not kidding, she's really worried about me.Suddenly I feel terrible.I shouldn't have just disappeared like that, it was so irresponsible and selfish. "Oh, Suzy!" I rushed forward impulsively and hugged her tightly, "I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to worry you." "It's ok." Suzy hugged me too, "I was just worried for a while. When I saw you on TV, I knew you must be ok. And, you look great on TV!"

"Really?" A small smile played on my lips, "You really think so?" "Really!" Suzie replied. "You're better than that Luke Brandon. He's so arrogant!" "Yeah," I paused, "I think he did. But after the show, he was actually nice to me." "Really?" said Suzy nonchalantly. "Anyway, you're awesome! Want some coffee?" "Okay," I said.Suzy went into the kitchen. I picked up the letters and bills and began to go through them one by one slowly. Before, these things would only terrify me inexplicably. In fact, I would throw them all in the trash if I didn't read them. But you know what? I don't feel scared at all today.Seriously, how could I be so stupid with my finances? How could I be so cowardly? This time I'm going to get them right.I'm going to sit down and take a good look at my finances and sort out this mess.

Looking at the pile of envelopes in my hand, I suddenly felt that I had grown up a lot and had a sense of responsibility.I will manage my life sensibly and with foresight, and from here on out, my financial situation will be on track.I have completely and completely changed my attitude towards money. and…… Well, I didn't want to say that at first. But "Morning Coffee" really paid me well.High! You won't believe it, and with every hotline call I get...   Oh, I'm a little embarrassed. That is to say... a lot. Thinking of this, I couldn't help but smile, a little smug, as I've done since they told me about the pay. Therefore, I can easily pay off these debts now. The money owed on the VISA card, the money owed on the Octagon credit card, and the money owed to Suzie...all the debt! Finally, finally, my life is starting to get back to normal!

"So, how did you disappear all of a sudden?" Suzie came out of the kitchen, startling me. "What went wrong?" "I don't know," I sighed, and put the letter back on the hall table. "I just had to leave and think about it. I'm completely confused." "Because of Taxin?" Suzie said immediately. My body froze with worry. "A little bit," I paused and swallowed, "Why do you say that? Could it be that he..." "I know you don't like Taxin very much," Suzie said sadly, "but I think he still likes you very much. He came here a few nights ago and left you this letter."

She pointed to a beige envelope in front of the mirror.I picked it up with slightly trembling hands, oh god, what would he write? I hesitated, then tore open the envelope, and a ticket floated out of the envelope onto the floor. "It's an opera ticket!" Suzy picked it up and said, "Tonight!" She looked up. "What a coincidence, Becky, how good of you to be back now!" "Dear Rebecca," I read in disbelief. Please forgive me for not contacting you before this. But as time went on, it became more and more clear to me how much I missed the time we spent together.I hope so much to be able to relive the good times with you again.

I enclose to my letter a ticket for the opera "Meistersinger of Nuremberg", which will be performed at the Opera House.I'll be there anyway, and I'd be very happy if you could too. Yours sincerely Tasin Cress-Stuart. I stared at the letter, completely confused about what was going on.What the hell does that mean? Did Tasin never see me go through his checkbook? Or did he see it, but he decided to forgive me? Was he schizophrenic? "Hey, Becky, you gotta go!" Suzie said, poking her head over my back. "You have to go. If you don't go, he's going to break down. I really think he likes you."

"I can't go," I dropped the letter, "I have a business meeting tonight." "What's the point?" Suzie said, "You can cancel it." "I...I can't. That's important." "Oh," said Suzy dejectedly, "but what about poor Tachin? He'll just sit there, waiting for you, excited..." "You go for me," I suggested, "you go." "Really?" Susila straightened her face and glanced at the ticket. "I think I can go. I like opera very much. But to be honest..." She looked up. "Who the hell would be interested in having a business meeting at night?"

"It's...it's Luke Brandon." I tried to sound nonchalant. But it didn't work, I felt my face start to heat up. "Luke Brandon?" Suzie asked puzzled, "but..." She stared at me, her face slowly changing. "Oh no! Becky! Don't tell me..." "It's just a business meeting." I avoided her gaze, "That's all. Two people discuss some business dealings in a business-like manner, that's all." Then, I hurried into my room. business meeting. What should I wear to a business meeting? Okay, let me think about it! I took all my coats out of the closet and put them on the bed.Blue, black, pink, no, it's too ugly.Striped? OK, but maybe too formal.Beige...too delicate.Green...does green mean bad luck or something?

"So, what are you going to wear?" Suzie looked in through my open bedroom door. "Do you want to go shopping for new clothes?" She suddenly brightened up. "Hey, shall we go shopping?" "Shopping?" I said absently. "This...maybe." Usually, when I hear about shopping, I jump up with excitement and head for it.But, don't know why today... oh, I don't know.I may be too nervous to feel shopping at all.Too nervous.I don't think I can give all my attention to shopping. "Did you hear me, Becky?" Suzy asked in surprise, "I'm asking you, shall we go shopping?" "I know." I glanced at her, then reached for a black hat and looked critically. "Actually, I think I'll wait a while before I go shopping." "You mean..." Suzy said hesitantly, "You mean you don't want to go shopping?" "indeed so." There was a moment of silence, and I looked up to find Suzie staring at me. "I don't understand." She sounded distraught. "Why are you acting weird now?" "I'm not being weird!" I shrugged. "I just don't want to go shopping." "God, there must be something wrong, no?" Suzie said sadly, "I see. Are you really sick?" She walked quickly into the room and put her hand on my forehead. "Have you got a fever? Any injuries?" "No!" I laughed, "Of course not!" "Did you get hit on the head?" She waved her fingers in front of my eyes. "How many fingers?" "Susie, I'm fine." I pushed her hand aside. "Honestly, I'm just...not in the mood for shopping right now." I drew a gray suit on me. "What do you think of this set?" "Honestly, Becky, I'm a little worried about you." Suzy shook her head. "I think you should get checked out. You're... different from what you used to be. It's kind of scary." "Yes." I reached for a white shirt and said to her with a smile. "Perhaps, I have indeed changed!" It took me a whole afternoon to decide exactly what to wear.I kept trying and matching; and suddenly remembered that I still had some clothes in the back of the closet (I must wear those purple jeans sometime). But in the end I chose simplicity and elegance.I put on my most beautiful black suit (bought on sale at Jigsaw 2 years ago), a white "M&S" t-shirt, and a pair of knee-high black sheepskin boots (they're from Dolce & Gabbana, but I told my mom they were from BHS , not really, because at that time she wanted to get a pair for herself too, and I had to pretend they were sold out). After getting dressed, I put my hair up and stare at myself in the mirror. "It's so beautiful!" Suzie said enviously at the door. "Very sexy." "Sexy?" I was devastated. "I don't want to be sexy! I want to look competent." "Can't it be both?" Suzie suggested, "Skillful and sexy?" "I...no," I said after a moment of hesitation.I look away. "No, I don't want to."
