Sam Winters is in good luck.The rush to see a Tacie Brand movie is so moving.Of course, part of the reason is that Tacie went to great lengths to justify her choice.But, for whatever reason, Barbara Carter has leapt to the top spot as the new producer of the year.It has indeed been an incredible year for dry fashion designers. The TV series produced by Pan Pacific are good, and "Friday My Servant" is the biggest one.The TV distribution system is negotiating a new five-year contract with Sam for the series. Sam was just getting ready for lunch when Lucier hurried in and said, "They just caught a guy. This guy is setting fire to the prop store. They'll bring this guy here right away."

The man sat in a chair, facing Sam in silence, with the two studio guards standing behind him.His eyes were full of malice.Sam hadn't quite recovered from his shock. "Why?" he asked. "For God's sake—why?" "Because I don't want your little handout," Dallas Burke said, "I hate you, I hate this studio, I hate this whole rotten industry. I created this industry, you son of a bitch Yeah. I paid for half the movie studios in this ghost city. Now you're all getting rich on me. Why don't you give me a movie to direct, it's like that Just scrambling to buy my pile of fucking stories no one's going to believe and you're just sending me off? You can buy a phone book from me, Sam. I don't care for you I want a job. You want me to die a failure. You idiot, for that I will never forgive you."

Long after they got Dallas Burke away, Sam sat thinking about him.He thought back to some of the great things that Dallas had done, the great films that had been made.In any other business he would have been a hero, chairman of the board, or retired with a generous pension and honors.
