Chapter 8 Section VII

Chantal soon got tired of standing on the seawall looking out at the beach.She decided to go back to the hotel and wait for Jean-Marc.But she felt sleepy.In order not to spoil the good mood when they got together, she decided to ask for a cup of coffee.So she changed direction and walked towards a concrete building.There is a restaurant, a cafe, an amusement park and some kiosks. As soon as she entered the cafe, she was distracted by the loud music.She moved impatiently between the two rows of desks.In the empty hall, two men kept staring at her: one was young, leaning in front of the counter, wearing a cafe uniform; the other was older, muscular, wearing a T-shirt, standing Across the hall.

Looking for a seat, she said to the muscular man, "Can you turn the music off?" He took a few steps closer to her and said, "I'm sorry, ma'am, I didn't catch what you said." Chantal sneaks a peek at his muscular, patterned arm of a naked woman with huge breasts and a snake wrapped around her body. All she could say was (but toned down): "The music—could you turn the volume down?" The man asked instead: "The music? Don't you like it?" Chantal suddenly noticed the young man again, now standing behind the counter, turning up the volume.

The man with the tattoo was very close to her.His smile looked a bit hostile.She surrendered: "No, I don't hate your music!" The man added, "I'm sure you like it. So, what do you want?" "Nothing," said Chantal hastily, "I just want to look around. You are beautifully furnished here." "Then why don't you stay?" The young man in black uniform came behind her unexpectedly.He moved back a few more steps: now he was standing between the two rows of desks, which was the only way out into the hall.His flattering tone disturbed her mood.She felt that she was falling into a trap.She must figure out a way to escape as soon as possible.To get out, she had to go through the road blocked by the young man.Like someone desperate to escape death, she moved cautiously towards the exit.She saw that disgustingly sweet smile on the young man's face.Her heart was pounding.When she moved in front of him, he sideways let her pass.
