Chapter 149 Buddha Sakyamuni

Sakyamuni Buddha, known as "Buddha" by ordinary people, is actually the Buddha who educates all living beings in the present world in the eyes of Buddhists. The teachings of Buddhism are entirely dependent on the spread of Shakyamuni Buddha. Sakyamuni was a real person in history, and he lived roughly at the same time as Confucius in China.Sakyamuni is the name of a tribe, and Muni is Nengren and Nengji, which together can be understood as "the sage of the Sakyamuni tribe".His original name was Gautama Siddhartha, and another name for Sakyamuni Buddha is "Tathagata Buddha". Tathagata means a person who comes from the truthful (absolute truth) way and reveals the truth.

Sakyamuni was born in 566 B.C. in the Kingdom of Kapila on the southern slope of the Himalayas, and his father was the king of the country. One day, his mother, Mrs. Maya, dreamed that a white elephant descended from the sky with a white light and threw it into her right rib, thus she became pregnant. On the eighth day of the twelfth month of the lunar calendar, Mrs. Maya went back to her natal home as usual, walked to the Lumbini Garden, sat down to rest with a branch of the tree in her hands, and a gust of wind blew, and Gautama Siddhartha was born from Mrs. Maya’s right rib.At this time, two dragons appeared in the sky, one spit cold water and the other spit warm water to bathe them. After Gautama Siddhartha took a bath, he stood up and walked 7 steps forward, growing lotuses step by step. Then he pointed to the sky with one hand and the ground with the other, looked around and said, "I am the only one in the sky and on the earth." At this time, his whole body appeared golden yellow, his cheeks were plump like a lion, and his hair grew upwards. His mother died seven days after giving birth to him.Aunt Mrs. Boboti is responsible for the upbringing.

He saw that society was cruel and ruthless, and people suffered from birth, old age, sickness and death. He resolutely abandoned his comfortable life and became a monk to practice.First, he practiced asceticism with Brahmanism, eclipsed a hemp and wheat, and became skinny, but found nothing, so he washed away the dirt of 6 years with the water of the Nilian Chan River, and climbed ashore. At this time, the shepherdess saw him pitiful, and brought a bowl of chyle, and he recovered his strength after eating. This is the derived "Laba porridge".Later, he went to Gaya to sit under a bodhi tree and meditated. For 49 days, he came up with a righteous way: "People have me", and "creating desires is the root of all pain. Only by reaching "Nirvana" can we get rid of pain. "To get rid of reincarnation, if you want to achieve it, you must practice Taoism. The theory he founded is called "Buddhism".Since then, Gautama Siddhartha has become "Buddha", referred to as "Buddha" for short, and the world respects him as Sakyamuni.

In 486 BC, Sakyamuni was 80 years old and had been preaching for 45 years. Buddhism has been accepted by most people in South Asia. Temples have been established in various places, and the number of monks and lay believers has doubled. At this time, Sakyamuni's back disease relapsed, and knowing that he was about to die, he came to the Bati River in Kusinaga. The disciple Ananda tied the rope bed between the two Po trees. Sakyamuni was lying on his side on the rope bed with his head facing north and west, with his head supported by his right hand and his left hand on his body. ", the heart stopped beating. This day is February 15th of the lunar calendar.
