Zhengyi, also known as Zhengyi Sect, is one of the two major sects of Taoism after the Yuan Dynasty, alongside Quanzhen Taoism.Zhengdao mainly promotes the worship of ghosts and gods, and mainly focuses on activities such as drawing amulets and chanting mantras, exorcising ghosts and subduing demons, praying for blessings and disaster relief.Taoist priests of this school generally have a family and do not avoid meat, so people call them secular Taoist priests or Huoju Taoist priests.Zhengyi School is mainly popular in southern China.

Shangqing Palace in Guixi, Jiangxi Province, formerly known as the Chuanlu Altar, is the place where the heavenly masters of the past dynasties preached, and it is also the place where the Taoist ancestor Taishang Laojun is enshrined.According to records, the palace was founded by Zhang Sheng, the fourth grandson of Zhang Daoling, in the Yongjia period of the Western Jin Dynasty (307-313 AD), after he moved to Longhu Mountain from Hanzhong. The story of "Zhang Tianshi Prays for the Plague, Hong Taiwei Mistakes the Demon" in the first chapter of the famous classic literature is written against the background of Tianshi Mansion and Longhu Mountain in the Shang Qing Dynasty.

During the Tang Dynasty, the Chuanlu Altar was renamed the Shangqing Palace and expanded. In the early Song Dynasty, the palace here was built with red eaves and red pillars, and the building was ten feet high.Inside the Bell and Drum Tower, the bronze bell was struck lightly, and the sound lingered endlessly. The Sangong 24 courtyard on the right is majestic and magnificent. In the following dynasties, the Shangqing Palace was repaired, and the name was changed several times. In the tenth year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (AD 1697), it was finally named Taishangqing Palace, or Shangqing Palace for short.

The existing buildings of the Shangqing Palace include the Blessed Gate, the Nine Scrolls, the Xiama Pavilion, the Wuchao Gate, the Bell Tower, the Yumen Hall, the Dongyin Temple, and the Dragon and Tiger Fairy Peak. There are many Yuan and Ming inscriptions preserved around, which are of certain reference value for the study of the history of Taoism in my country and the art of Taoist architecture.
