The "New Map of the Republic of China" compiled by Ding Wenjiang, Weng Wenhao, and Zeng Shiying was published by the Shanghai Declaration Office in October 1934. This is China's first modern atlas. The atlas includes three series of sequential maps, general maps and city maps, with more than 36,000 place-name indexes and 180 pages in total.Seven sequence diagrams: national political district map, geography (physical geography) map, traffic map, weather map, language division map, mineral distribution map and agricultural product distribution map, all using the Albers projection (that is, equal-area projection). There are 44 ordinary maps, which are divided into two groups of geographical and cultural, with 22 maps in each group, divided into frames according to longitude and latitude. The eastern scale is 1:2000000, and the western scale is 1:5000000, both using polyconic projection. Two city maps, composed of 61 small city maps including Nanjing, Shanghai, and Beiping (Beijing), both with a scale of 1:100,000.

The atlas used more than 7,700 maps of China compiled and published at home and abroad collected by the Central Geological Survey at that time.Identified all kinds of measured maps one by one, collected observation records of more than 1,000 latitude and longitude points and elevations, and corrected many errors in azimuth and elevations on the old maps.It is the first time in the history of Chinese cartography that the layered coloring method is adopted, which scientifically reflects the characteristics of China's three major step terrains, and completely abandons the "dragon vein" representation on traditional maps. This atlas has great influence at home and abroad. According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 40 kinds of Chinese maps published at home and abroad that are basically based on this atlas or influenced by it.

The abbreviated version of this atlas is "New Map of China's Provinces", which was published by Shanghai Shenbao Office in August 1933.There are 31 maps in total, including two series of sequence maps and provincial maps. There are 7 sequential maps, showing administrative regions, topography, transportation, mineral distribution, climate, urban and rural household distribution, and language regions; 24 general provincial maps.Attached is an index of place names on 68 pages. It was very popular after publication, and the fourth edition was published in 1939, and the quality has been continuously improved. In 1948, revised by Zeng Shiying and Fang Jun, the fifth edition was published with a circulation of 200,000 copies.

These two atlases were compiled and published to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Shenbao, so they are collectively called "Shenzhen Maps".
