Chapter 5 The third quarter is full moon

One month after the baby is born, a celebration ceremony is held for it, which is called "making a full moon".The origin of the full moon is earlier, and there is a record of the "full moon" in "Wei Shu·Ji Gu Chuan", and Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty also "given wine [pu Portuguese, gathering people to drink] for three days" because of his son's full moon.To celebrate the full moon, sacrifices must be made to worship the gods and ancestors, and a banquet is held to entertain relatives and friends. The wine is called "full moon wine".Also distribute happy noodles and other foods to neighbors. On this day, relatives and friends will bring gifts when they come to celebrate. As the saying goes: "The hats of my aunt's house, the shoes of my aunt's house, and the bedding of my mother's (grandmother's) house will be moved here." The hats or shoes should also be decorated with patterns such as birthday stars, dog heads, and tiger heads. In addition to clothing, there are also gifts such as food, cars, cradles and longevity strings.

One of the most important elements of the full moon ceremony is to shave the baby's "full moon head".The ceremony is solemn and grand, but the requirements for scissors vary from place to place. In Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, a barber is invited to cut the hair. Before cutting, he rubs a handful of chewed tea leaves on the child's head. It is said that there will be no sores in the future, and the black hair will grow as thick as a tea tree. When the head is shaved, the child is held in the arms of the grandfather or relatives and friends who are blessed. Those who hold the child must step on the green onions, kidney beans, and axes wrapped in red cloth or red paper. After the hair is shaved, the father of the child will plant the green onions and yun in the ground, which means love, luck, and blessing. In addition, the vitality of Congyun is extremely strong, which also means that children can grow up healthily. The full moon hair style usually leaves a small circle of hair on the top of the head, and the rest is shaved; some people also leave a small piece of hair the size of a copper coin at the back of the head without shaving, which is called "filial piety hair".The fallen fetal hair cannot be disposed of casually. Hangzhou is used to hanging it on the high place of the main room, and some are hung in the middle of the bed eaves. After losing their hair, they also set up cases to worship the gods, dress up the children anew, and carry them around the streets, which is called "Douxi God Circle". In "Tokyo Menghualu", it is called "moving nest [ke tree]".The purpose of doing this is to make children see the world.
