In 1911, when the 1911 Revolution took place, Pu Hua, an important painter of the "Shanghai School of Painting", passed away.Wu Changshuo, who has known him for more than 40 years, wrote on his epitaph that he was "rich in pen and ink but poor in life". These seven characters are the best portrayal of Pu Hua's poor and wonderful life. Pu Hua (1830-1911), formerly known as Cheng, styled as Ying, nicknamed Xu Shanye Shi.Jiaxing people. He lived a poor life and got married at the age of 22. Although he was poor, his husband and wife loved each other deeply and were very happy. But when his wife died of illness at the age of thirty-two, he was deeply saddened and lamented "how short a good relationship is".From then on, she was alone and never married again.

Pu Hua lived in temples in his early years, and lived in Shanghai in his later years. He and Wu Changshuo were best friends. Their friendship lasted for forty years. They discussed art and inspired each other. The idea is novel and poetic. The brushwork is powerful, good use of wet brush, dripping with ink, smooth and concise lines, soft and strong, and the style is somewhat similar to that of Wu Changshuo. There are many paintings of plum, orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum, pine and loquat.Or paint autumn chrysanthemums and Lingshuang, or paint old plums on twigs, or write ink bamboos standing upright, with concise brush and ink, clear and beautiful colors, natural and unrestrained, and full of vitality.

He sells paintings for a living, is addicted to alcohol, and almost responds to those who ask for paintings, especially when there are wine and food, so many of his paintings have been handed down, and I will not list them one by one today.
