Chapter 113 Shifanluogu

The name of Shibanluogu is very similar to Shifangu, but they are two completely different types of music.Shifan Luogu is a famous instrumental music popular in Wuxi, Suzhou, Changshu, Yixing and other places in Jiangsu. It was used in weddings, funerals, weddings, celebrations and other occasions in the old days. The performance forms of Shifanluogu can be divided into two categories: Qingluogu (Suluogu) played only with percussion instruments and Sizhu luogu (Meat Luogu) played with orchestral instruments. The band combinations of Qing gongs and drums can be divided into coarse and fine. The thick gongs and drums are played with Yungong, clapper, small wooden fish, double chime, Tonggu, Bangu, Dagong, Xigong and seven cymbals. In addition to the instruments used in coarse gongs and drums, small cymbals, middle gongs, spring gongs, inner gongs, soup gongs and large cymbals are used to play fine gongs and drums. The musical structure of Qing gongs and drums is characterized by the combination of gongs and drums.

Due to the difference of the main instrument and band combination in the performance, silk bamboo gongs and drums can be divided into Sheng blowing gongs and drums, flute blowing gongs and drums, thick and thin silk bamboo gongs and drums (called "Mandarin Duck Pai" in ancient times) and so on.The sheng gong and drum band has wind instruments such as sheng and xiao; stringed instruments such as erhu and banhu; The repertoire includes "Shou Ting Hou" (thin gongs and drums) and "Yin Song" (thick gongs and drums). On the basis of sheng and gongs and drums, wind instruments Qudi and Bangdi are added to the compilation of flute and gongs and drums, and thick gongs and drums are used for percussion instruments.Thick and thin silk bamboo gongs and drums are compiled on the basis of flute blowing gongs and drums, and wind instruments Dasuona, Xiaosuona, Zhaojun (commonly known as Changjian, non-melody instruments, mostly used at the beginning and end of music to enhance the atmosphere), and percussion instruments are made of thin gongs and drums. The musical structure of Shifan Luogu is mostly centered on gongs and drums, which are composed of several tunes according to a certain procedure, and the mood is mostly cheerful and enthusiastic.
