Chapter 108 storytelling

Tanci is a rap music that was mainly spread in the south during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In Ming Zang Maoxun's "Tanci Xiaoxu", four kinds of Tanci were mentioned in "Xianyou", "Xiayou" and "Mingyou" (ie "Siyouji Tanci"), saying that "maybe Yang Lianfu (Weizhen) did it when he was avoiding chaos in Wuzhong" , indicating that Tanci had already appeared in the late Yuan Dynasty. It may also be influenced by Bianwen, Guzici, Taozhen, etc. At first, it was not much different from Guzici. The difference is that Guzici is mainly popular in the north, while Tanci is mainly popular in the south; Guzici Ci uses drums as the main accompaniment instrument and Sanxian as the supplementary instrument, while Tanci uses Sanxian, pipa and dulcimer as the main accompaniment instruments.

Tanci is also spoken and sung, and its singing part is mainly seven-character sentences. Rap music popular in various places is mostly performed in the local language. The performance of Tanci has two kinds of national accent and local accent. There are many works of Guoyin, and the system is also relatively large, such as "Tianyuhua", "Bishenghua", "Anbangzhi", "Dingguozhi", "White Snake", etc. Yang Shen's "Twenty-one History Tanci" in the Ming Dynasty also belongs to this category. Among them, there is the famous "Linjiang Fairy":

This poem is the opening speech of the third paragraph "Speaking of the Qin and Han Dynasties", and it is well-known because it was selected as the opening song of the TV series. Later, Tanci was mainly popular in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Suzhou and Hangzhou. It is actually this type that performed more on stage, and the most famous one is Suzhou Tanci. Since the end of the Ming Dynasty, Tanci has been very popular in Suzhou area. Famous artists such as Wang Zhoushi, Chen Yuqian, Mao Changpei, and Yu Xiushan have emerged, collectively known as the Four Masters, and have formed different schools of Chen Tiao and Yu Tiao with different styles.
