Chapter 90 drumbeat

In traditional Chinese music, percussion and wind instruments are the main forms of performance. It appeared around the Han Dynasty and is an important music genre in Chinese music. The advocacy originated from the minority areas in the northwest, but now there is only one source that says it originated in the Han Dynasty, citing Liu's "Dingjun Li" saying that in the Han Dynasty, a man named Ban Yi made a fortune in the northwest frontier, and he used advocacy.Advocacy is mainly used on horses in the army, and the Han Dynasty has set up the Advocacy Department to manage it specially.

According to its purpose, advocacy was divided into four categories in the Han Dynasty: 1. Huangmen advocacy. It is mainly used for food and music, that is, the music used in banquets, and sometimes it is also used in the emperor's brine book; 2. Riding and blowing. It is used for halogen books and accompanying vehicles; 3. Short flute and cymbal song.Military music is mainly used for Yuanhui, suburban sacrifices, school hunting, etc.; 4. Horizontal blowing. The joy of riding a horse used by the army.Initially, blowing horizontally was parallel to advocating. The difference is that advocacy originated from the Northwest ethnic group, while horizontal blowing was influenced by the music of the Western Regions; advocacy uses instruments such as Xiao and Jia, while horizontal blowing uses drums and horns, which later became part of advocacy.

After the Sui and Tang Dynasties, advocacy still existed in successive dynasties, but the purpose and system were constantly changing. As time went on, the differences between the various advocacy became smaller, and they were simply combined together and collectively referred to as advocacy.
