Where the sun rises, the sea surrounds the archipelago.Pearls abound in the depths of the sea.On the deep seabed, lay the body of a young man.In front of the corpse, a group of blond mermaids sat among the coral. They looked at the corpse with such beautiful and blue eyes. They were talking, and their voices were so sweet, like music. The sea heard their talk, and the waves sent it to the sea, and the wind blew it into my heart. A mermaid said: "This is a man who fell into the bottom of the sea yesterday, because the sea was angry and lost his temper." Another said: "It's not the sea that got angry and lost its temper, but humans—they call themselves the descendants of gods—waging a cruel war, and the blood that flowed turned the seas scarlet. This man died in the war."

The third said: "I don't know what war is, but I know that after humans conquered the land, they also wanted to dominate the sea. They invented all kinds of weird machines and rode the wind and waves to swim in the sea. Neptune, the god of the sea, learned of this outrageous violation, I couldn't help being furious. So in order to please our sea god, humans had to pay tribute and offer sacrifices to him. Yesterday we saw the remains and bones that fell into the sea, which are just the latest sacrifices humans made to the great Neptune." The fourth mermaid said: "Nipton is really majestic, but what a cruel heart! If I were the queen of the sea, I would never accept such a bloody sacrifice. Come, let us see the corpse of this young man, maybe it can teach us something about humans."

The mermaids swam up to the young man's body. They searched in his pockets and found a letter in the closet of his underwear. One of the mermaids opened the letter and read: "Darling! It's getting darker now, but I can't go to bed. Nothing in the world can comfort me, only unceasing love, endless tears; nothing can make me happy, only hope through the autumn water, pregnant Hope. Hope you escape the clutches of war and come back to me. Now all I can do is think about the time we parted, the time you whispered to me, the tears everyone owes, one day will have to be repaid...  ... my dear! I don't know how to write, but let my heart flow to the paper. This heart, misfortune tore it to pieces, love soothes it. That love makes pain tasteful, sorrow becomes Congratulations. When love unites our two hearts, when we long for our soul and body to be one, war calls you, and you join the war, driven by duty and patriotism What kind of obligation is this? It breaks up lovers, makes children orphans, and makes women widows. What kind of patriotism is this? For some trivial things, it will go to war and make the country a ruin. For the poor Country people, what is this duty? The rich and the rich never pay attention to it! If the duty is to deny that nations should live in peace, and patriotism is to disturb the safety of human life, then let this duty and patriotism go to hell. ...No, no! My dear! Don't take my words to heart, but love your country and fight bravely! Don't listen to a girl's nonsense-parting makes her lose her mind, love makes her blind ...if love cannot bring you back to me in this life, then love will surely bring you and me together in the next life..."

The mermaids put the letter back under the youth's clothes, and swam away, all sad and silent. When they were far away from the young man, a mermaid could not help singing and sighing: "The human heart is more cruel than Neptune's heart"
