Chapter 24 chimney sweep boy

A small black dot in the snow Crying and sweeping make people feel sorry where did your parents say They all go to chapel to pray i was happy in the wilderness Still laughing in the winter snow They put me in black Tell me to sing a sad little tune I'm still happy dancing and singing Mom and Dad thought they didn't hurt me enough just go and praise god the priest and the king It is they who built heaven on our misery A little black thing among the snow: Crying weep, weep, in notes of woe! Where are thy father & mother? say? They are both gone up to the church to pray.

Because I was happy upon the heath, And smiled among the winters snow: They clothed me in the clothes of death, Abd taught me to sing the notes of woe. And because I am happy & dance & sing, They think they have done me no injury: And are gone to praise God & his Priest & King Who make up a heaven of our misery.
