Chapter 7 Chronology of Rimbaud's life

Chronology of Rimbaud's life Artur Nicolas Rimbaud was born in Chavel, a small town in northern France, on October 20, 1854. In October 1862, he entered the Rosate Primary School in Chaville City. He studied diligently and won many awards. In October 1865, he entered Chaville Middle School. Rimbaud studied rhetoric in 1869.He also published three Latin poems in his school's "Middle School Counselor" magazine, among which "Juguda" won the first prize in the Latin Poetry Competition of the Douai Academy of Sciences. Published "Orphans' New Year's Greetings" in 1870, met Izambar, a professor of rhetoric, and read the works of Rabelais Hugo and Pomweiler under his guidance. On August 29, he fled for the first time and wanted to go to Paris. He was detained for not paying enough tickets, and was released on bail by his teacher Izanbal. On October 7, he fled to Belgium for the second time on foot, and wrote poems such as "Sly Woman", "Little Green Hotel", and "Wandering" on the way.He was then sent home by the police.In winter, he wrote the poem "The Sedentary Old Man" in the library of Chaville City.

On February 25, 1871, he fled for the third time and went to Paris on foot. March 18 Paris Commune uprising.Rimbaud applauded this feat, and wrote famous poems such as "Paris War Song" and "Maria's Hand". On May 15, he wrote the famous letter on poetry "To Demeny". In mid-September, Rimbaud visited Verlaine with his famous poem "Drunken Boat".And participated in Verlaine and Charlie Crow's "Drunk Buddies Poetry Club". On July 7, 1872, he went to Belgium with Verlaine. On September 4, the two sailed to England together. Rimbaud and Verlaine met in Brussels on July 3, 1873. On July 10, Verlaine threatened Rimbaud with a pistol, and injured Rimbaud's wrist because of a misfire. Verlaine was sentenced to two years in prison by the Belgian authorities.Rimbaud wrote "A Season in Hell" in Roche, and this book came out that year.

In 1874, Rimbaud completed and supplemented the "Aura Collection" with the poet Germain Nuvo in London. In 1875, Rimbaud decided to travel far and began to return to his hometown of Chavel to learn the language. Employed as an employee in the Dutch colonial army on May 19, 1876, escaped three weeks later on a British galleon and returned to Chavelles at the end of the year. He went to Hamburg in 1877, worked as an interpreter in a circus, and accompanied the troupe to Sweden and Denmark. In 1878, Rimbaud wanted to travel to the East by working for a food company in Hamburg, but failed.

When his friend Dela Ay visited him in 1879, he asked him if he was still concentrating on literature, and his answer was: "I don't think about it anymore." In 1880, he worked as a small foreman for a British company with about 50 people. He resigned because of low wages.To Egypt wandering and looking for opportunities along the Red Coast, and finally to Aden.Afterwards, a caravan traveled through the African desert and forest to Harar. From 1883 to 1889 he worked for several French and European companies.Escorted guns, ivory, etc. for unscrupulous businessmen.Organized a caravan escort team to deal with bandits that haunted the African jungle.But in the end, exhausted and nearly killed in an encounter, he returned to Harar on a mule and escorted by two bodyguards.

In 1890, after much painstaking efforts by poets and writers in Paris, they found him in Abyssinia, got his correspondence address, and even sent him a letter of invitation to write. In February 1891, Rimbaud's knee was infected with malaria fever and arthritis in Africa, and his necrosis became more and more serious. On May 20, he was sent back to Marseille Hospital in France for medical treatment. Rimbaud died in Marseille Hospital on November 10.
