to sophia (miss stacey) 1 How beautiful you are, nymph of land and sea And seldom so beautiful as thou; Like the right clothes, go with you, Here are your tender limbs: As life leaps within, Your limbs are always moving and shining. 2 Your deep eyes are a pair of stars Flame, tender and crystal, Will drive the wisest mad; The wind that fanned the fire was fueled by joy Thoughts born, like the currents of the sea, It uses your rippling heart as a pillow. 3 If the face drawn by your eyes Can turn green from ecstasy, If the stunned soul is the faintest, Just to hear your hasty harp;

Don't be surprised, then: whenever you speak of When I am infatuated, my heart beats the most. 4 like waves awakened by a whirlwind, like dew on the morning wind, Like a bird hearing the warning of thunder, like shocked and speechless creatures I feel the missing spirit, my heart Like all this, when your heart is near. 1819 Translated by Cha Liangzheng
