The jewish dog of Salaenio went mad and changed his appearance, barking and jumping all the way in the street, shouting, "My daughter! O my money! O my daughter! I ran away with a Christian." La! O my Christian money! Justice! O law! My money, my daughter! My daughter stole a sealed bag, and two sealed bags! And jewels! Two jewels, two precious jewels, have been stolen by my daughter! Justice! Find the girl! She has the jewels with her, and the money."

All the little children in the Venetian city of Salarino followed him, calling: O his gems, O his daughters, O his money.
