Mo Yan friends: In China, it is a happy thing for a writer's script to be staged by the Beijing People's Art Theater.For this, I would like to thank Dean Zhang Heping, director Ren Ming, and all the cast and crew. Although I was born in writing novels, I have always had a deep fascination with dialogue dramas.The first thing I turned into typeface was a novel, but my real debut was a play called "The Play".It was in 1978, when I was a soldier in Huang County, Shandong Province.At that time, I watched a drama called "In the Silent Place" on TV, read the scripts of Cao Yu and Guo Moruo, and wrote such a script with obvious traces of imitation.I sent this script to many publications, but all of them were rejected. In a fit of anger, I threw it into the stove and burned it.

In 1999, he collaborated with his friend Wang Shuzeng on a play called "The Drama", which was put on stage by the Kongzheng Repertory Troupe and performed in the People's Art Theater.He also participated in the European Theater Festival in Munich and the African Theater Festival in Egypt. In 2004, I followed this crew to perform in Malaysia and Singapore. I felt the enthusiasm of overseas audiences and the unique charm of drama art. It's my second play. I once threatened to write three historical plays, but the third one was delayed, but I thought, one day I will write it.

I think that novelists should write dramas in their true colors.Because drama is closely related to novels, every excellent novel actually contains a drama. Based on "Historical Records: Biographies of Assassins", the characters and historical facts are basically faithful to the original work, but the motives of the characters' actions are boldly speculated.I guess this is allowed and required. All history is contemporary history; all historical dramas should be contemporary dramas.If a drama with a historical theme cannot arouse audiences and readers to associate and think about current life and even their own destiny, such a historical drama has no practical significance.

Of course, what is more important is that the ultimate goal of a drama of any subject is to create typical characters, just like the ultimate goal of a novelist.Such a character is unique yet universal, strange yet familiar, such a character is all of us and ourselves. Mr. Shen Congwen once taught his student, Mr. Wang Zengqi, to "write according to the characters". In fact, not only novelists should write according to the characters, but also playwrights should write according to the characters, and actors should also act according to the characters.I hope that everyone in the crew should use their creativity, follow the script but not stick to the script, and strive to become the Jing Ke who will become all audiences.
