Chapter 1 Anthology Preface

our jing ke 莫言 693Words 2018-03-20
In October 1981, he published his debut short story "Rain and Rain on a Spring Night" in the fifth issue of the "Lianchi" bimonthly, and it has been 30 years since then.Shortly after publishing my first novel, my daughter was born, and this fall, my daughter's daughter was also born.Although the past is vivid before my eyes, my granddaughter's pink smile tells me that thirty years is quite a long time for a person. I am ashamed to compile an anthology at the same time, because compiling an anthology is like looking back on the road ahead. If you walk ten miles or eight miles, you can work hard, maintain a good posture, and make sure that you don't make a crooked step, but if you walk three hundred miles, it is difficult to ensure that there is no crooked footprint even if you are a man of iron.Writing articles for a few years can refresh your spirit and ensure that each article is high-quality, but writing for 30 years will inevitably lead to a mixture of good and bad. Therefore, the greatest shame in compiling this kind of concluding anthology is to face those texts that were sloppy and now unsightly.Of course, this kind of articles can also be excluded, but since it is a complete collection of stages, it is not worthy of the name; of course, unsatisfactory articles can also be deleted, but this has the disadvantage of being unfaithful to one’s own writing history. Therefore, the texts published in the past thirty years, which can be collected in total, are all compiled in; except for technical errors, the rest are kept as original as possible. For those that have been launched before, the last finalized version shall prevail.

Read through the old manuscript, with a lot of emotion.Ten thousand days and nights are frozen in it. Every work has its own story, and every line of text can trigger beautiful or painful memories. To be honest, I am proud of the enthusiasm for exploration and the courage to challenge the tradition when I was young, but I also regret the deviation caused by excessive force.I could and should have written more and better, but I have made up so many good times and wasted so much talent that it is too late to regret it now. Of course, it can also be said that it is not too late to wake up, after all, I can still write.I know what has been written, and therefore have a rough idea of what else may be written.

I used a fountain pen given to me by an old writer in Taiwan to write the above-mentioned characters. Once the pen is finished, writing becomes a pleasure. The following novels will also be written with this pen. Mo Yan December 14, 2011
