Chapter 42 Emperor Shizong of Ming Dynasty——Zhu Houcong

Zhu Houcong (1507-1566), grandson of Emperor Xianzong, cousin of Emperor Wuzong.Wu Zong died without heirs, and Zhu Houcong came to Beijing to ascend the throne. He himself is a superstitious believer in immortals and Taoism, focusing on fasting and seeking longevity.During his reign, he ignored the court for more than 20 years, and Yan Song had been in power for 17 years. Political corruption, military equipment was slack, financial constraints, and a profound social crisis emerged.Zhu Houcong took Danshi for a long time and became ill. He died and was buried in Yongling (now Changping County, Beijing). The temple name is Shizong, and the history is called Emperor Jiajing.

Qing is Zhongzhou Jun, and Jane is on the platform.
① Jia Yong, courtesy name Minghe, nicknamed Nanwu, was born in Linying, Henan. He was a Jinshi in the ninth year of Hongzhi. In the third year of Jiajing (1510 A.D.), he was promoted to be the Minister of Rites and a Bachelor of Wenyuan Pavilion, and in the fourth year of Jiajing (1511 A.D.), he was awarded the Prince Taibao Wuyingdian Bachelor. ② Juan A is an article in "The Book of Songs · Daya · Shengmin Zhishi", and it is also the place name mentioned in the poem. ③Phoenix singing, found in "Jian'a": "The phoenix is singing, in that high hill. The phoenix tree is born, in the rising sun. The beetles are withering, and the Yongyong is lazing."

Emperor Shizong of the Ming Dynasty made a comprehensive study of classics and history, respected Confucian officials, and at the beginning of his accession to the throne, "every time when there is a lot of opportunity, he likes to write poetry." (Chen Tian's "Ming Poetry Chronicle") and often gave poems to Yang Yiqing, Zhang Fujing, etc. This poem is one of them. In the poem, Jia Yong is praised for his outstanding talent and character. Minister, revive Chao Gang's thoughts and feelings. The first two lines of the poem are "Qing is a gentleman in Zhongzhou, and Jane is in Dengtaiheng".In simple and clear language, it summarizes Jia Yong's life path.Jia Yong is from Linying, Henan, and Henan is the old land of ancient Yuzhou known as Zhongzhou, a "base"!The characters point out Jia Yong's native place. And the next word: "Jun" tells us what kind of person Jia Yong is, expresses the poet's admiration for Jia Yong, and also paves the way for the next sentence "Jane is on the platform".We know that the imperial examinations in the feudal era were extremely strict. Scholars had to pass the county and provincial level examinations and screening again and again before they were eligible to participate in the palace examination and obtain the status of Jinshi.Jane: The meaning of selection.Generally speaking, without outstanding talent, it is difficult to win in the fierce competition. However, Jia Yong was able to be named on the gold list after many screenings, and was used by the imperial court, which shows Jia Yong's high talent. This sentence, on the surface, seems to be describing Jia Yong's career, and there is no magical writing, but after careful consideration, it is actually a continuation of the above, still praising Jia Yong, killing two birds with one stone, killing two birds with one stone.

Jia Yong's talent is admirable, but next, the author did not list many words of praise, but turned his pen sharply, saying "It is difficult for a monarch and his ministers to be good", and lamented that the relationship between the monarch and his ministers is not easy.As an emperor, the poet still lamented the "difficulty of good times", and associated with the feudal society, the strict hierarchical system, coupled with the emperor's busy official duties and daily management, only some of the officials and bureaucrats could have more contact with the emperor. Suddenly falling into a trough of emotion, I can't help worrying about Jia Yong: Is he still outstanding in the court? But the following sentence "Suo Gui De Ye Bing" tells us: "Although it is difficult for the monarch and his ministers to communicate, but because Jia Yongde has both talents, there is still a close relationship between the monarch and his ministers." Here, the author uses the word "expensive" to describe We are led from the emotional trough to a new peak, which makes us feel that "the mountains and rivers are full of doubts and there is no way out, and the willows are dark and the flowers are bright in another village", and our understanding of Jia Yong has also been further improved.

"Zhen Gu Liang Qing Zhi", the imperial court appreciated Jia Yong so much, and successively added officials to him, so how did he contribute his talents to the country and repay the infinite love of the emperor? The poet changed the way of writing with a strong subjective evaluation, and made a very good answer from the perspective of objective description by outlining the image of Jia Yong: "Su Ye is loyal." In just a few words, one is to help the court govern the country well. However, the image of a loyal and virtuous minister who worked conscientiously and conscientiously for the imperial court is already on the paper, making readers see the poet's praise of Jia Yong where there is no praise.

The last two lines of the whole poem: "Juan A has a lingering sound, and finally listen to the phoenix's cry" are the eyes and the finishing touch of the whole poem.On the basis of trying his best to lay out Jia Yongzhi's outstanding talents, the poet pushes the thoughts and feelings of the full text to a new peak through the use of allusions. "Juan A" uses: "Phoenix Singing" as a metaphor for virtuous officials gathered around the king. The poet connects Jia Yong with Juan A and Fenghuangming. It can be seen that the poet regards Jia Yong as someone who can assist him in making achievements. It can be said that the virtuous minister's praise for Jia Yong has reached its limit here. However, the meaning of the poet's use of allusions is by no means limited to this. "Juan A" describes the grand occasion of the Zhou king leading his ministers to travel in the peaceful and prosperous age.The poet has studied the classics and history, and he will not be unaware of the historical record that the Zhou Dynasty prospered and became stronger after the phoenix crowed in Qishan. But when he inherited the throne as Wuzong's nephew, treacherous officials were in power, rules and regulations were weakened, social conflicts intensified, and the country's power declined. The poet thinks of himself from Jia Yong and the ancient virtuous ministers, from the ancient virtuous ministers and Mingjun, and from the ancient Mingjun. He hopes that with the help of the virtuous ministers, he can cleanse the old evils, revive the court, and establish a world as prominent as the king of Zhou. The ambition of achievement arises spontaneously. Therefore, it is the poet's true feelings to express his full pride in rejuvenating the clan of the Ming Dynasty through the use of allusions.

Generally speaking, this poem expresses the poet's thoughts and feelings smoothly through eight sentences and forty characters. It can be regarded as a good poem among the emperor's many poems for the occasion.
