Chapter 8 Part I Taoism, Esoteric Buddhism and Eastern Mysticism-8

The secret of meaning is one of the "three secrets" of body, mouth and mind of Dongmi and Tibetan secrets, and it is also the most important part of the "three secrets" of Tantric Buddhism.Because the inner secrets of the body and the subtle secrets of the sound all work by virtue of the mind (consciousness). In the scriptures of the Sutras of Buddhism, regardless of the Mahayana or Mahayana sect, the main purpose is to purify the mind and empty the mind (consciousness) of delusions.Only the practice method of Esoteric Buddhism uses the visualization of "mind" as the method of "becoming a Buddha in one body". It is indeed completely different from the theories of various sects and Mahayana, and of course the mystery has its own The existence of secret meaning really needs to be explored deeply.

The main reason why human beings call themselves the spirits of creation is that human beings have a relationship of thought and emotion. The distinction between humans and animals is also distinguished by this.If you think more and think less, your intelligence will be low.If you think less and think more, your intelligence will be high. Those with higher thinking will enter the superhuman realm due to the sublimation of intelligence. The lustful person, due to the decline of intelligence, degenerates into the state of animal consciousness.Although thought and lust are divided into two parts and have different functions, they both rely on the function of "consciousness" to exert their application and effect. No matter in the scope of Mahayana Buddhism or all knowledge in the common world, the relationship between perception and feeling is called "mind", "nature", or the function of "psychology". To sum up, it can also be emphasized that they are all synonyms of the same function of "consciousness".

In human culture, regardless of the East or the West, many religions and philosophies, as long as they pay attention to practical cultivation methods, rely on the natural "consciousness" of human beings to do kung fu. This is a consistent and difficult principle, and it is also a common fact .That is to say, although the practice methods of various sects of Buddhism and Hinayana aim to achieve "Nirvana with surplus" or "Nirvana without surplus", they all take "self-purification of one's mind, that is all Buddhism" as the principle, there is no doubt about it.The principle of "partial emptiness" of the Hinayana Dao fruit, and the principle of "emptyness" in the Mahayana Buddha fruit, the so-called "empty" state is basically to use the function of one's own mind to sublimate the consciousness, It's like using a wedge to wedge into an extremely ethereal realm, not relying on body or objects, but living in an extraordinary realm, and then barely explaining its condition, calling it "empty".Therefore, it can be seen that the so-called "emptiness" in Mahayana Buddhism and Buddhism only abstractly points out the different concepts of another phenomenon. From the perspective of Tantric and Consciousness-Only Theories, whether it is "emptiness" with a state (empty with lingering support), or "empty" with no state (empty without lingering support), it is a true and true The big "yes".The so-called "emptiness" is just the phenomenon of consciousness reaching peace. The so-called "not empty" means that the entity with a peaceful consciousness is just what it is.

Consciousness and Consciousness Secondly, the biggest and highest topic of Mahayana Buddhism is the understanding of the ultimate metaphysical reality, that is, "emptiness" and "existence". It is not the debate between "mind" and "thing" that is discussed in general philosophy. After Sakyamuni's death, from the "gathering" of Indian Buddhism, to the dispute over the sects and sects of Theravada Buddhism, after the late Buddhism turned into the dispute between Mahayana and Mahayana, Manyan evolved, and there was the "Prajna" "after all, empty space". " and "Consciousness-only" debate on "the ultimate meaning exists".After it was introduced to Tibet in China, there is still a dispute between the "concept of emptiness" of "Prajna" and the "existence of the ultimate meaning" of "consciousness-only".Among them, the order of the scientific and judgmental Buddhist scriptures about Chinese Buddhism is ignored for the time being. For example, in terms of the basis of esoteric practice and Buddhist theory, both Eastern and Tibetan esoteric generally believe that the "ultimate existence" of "consciousness-only" is the ultimate conclusion that Sakyamuni came out with.In other words, the "empty view" of "Prajna" mentioned by the Buddha is only a temporary convenience.Proving "wonderful existence" from "vacuum" is the final truth. As for emptiness is not real, existence is not real existence, that is, emptiness is existence and non-emptiness is non-existence, etc., and the theory of "middle way" is established by mutual breaking of both sides, it is all a matter of purifying the concept of the original knowledge, and it is also here Let's not talk about it for now. However, it can be seen that the theoretical basis of Tantric practice is actually based on the system of Consciousness-only Studies, which has the same origin but different names with Bodhidharma Zen. The goals are the same, but the methods use different subtle relationships.

In short, the Buddhism of Hinayana and Hinayana generally starts with purifying the mind (consciousness), and finally achieves no gain and no return. Therefore, you must empty your mind and give up falsehoods to return to the truth. The knowledge of Tantric Buddhism, based on the theory of "consciousness-only" "consciousness change", believes that the realms of "emptiness" and "existence" are also the changing phenomena of "consciousness-only" cleanness and pollution. The ultimate form of consciousness, "existence" is "illusion", "emptiness" is not "truth", and it is the idea, which is the actual secret function of the noumenon of consciousness, so just go directly to "transform consciousness into wisdom" ", you can "become a saint", and even "become a Buddha in one body".To be honest, not only is the basic basis of Tantric theory like this, but also the basic basis of the Pure Land Sect established by Chinese Buddhism is no exception to this example.

A Superficial Explanation on the Practice of Mind Consciousness If we push away the Buddhist theory, but explain it from the usual and easy-to-understand method, we must first understand our existing state of mind, mind, and consciousness, or we can say that we must first understand the current state of this "heart wave".Just as the representation of Figure 1 and Figure 2.Figure 1 shows the state of ordinary human consciousness activities.Figure 2 shows the state of mind and consciousness fluctuations observed by Buddhist practitioners (A dotted line represents "mind body", B wave line represents "mind", and the concave point in the middle sound of C wave line represents "mind tranquility and heart emptiness").

After understanding these two pictures, we can know the simple principles of Chinese Buddhism, which integrates the theories of Mahayana, Sutra, and Esoteric Buddhism, and believes that "all waves are water" and "all water is waves".Deriving from this principle, we can know that the method of using the mind (consciousness) for visualization in Tantric Buddhism is completely the same as the principle of "one-pointedness of mind" in meditation and the role of Prajna Contemplation. The extrinsic religion is based on the ultimate teaching of "Bo Ping Jing Jing"; the Tantra is based on "purifying the heart wave" as the ultimate result of the teaching. If we only take "Bo Pingjing Jing" as the ultimate goal, if we deviate from it by a tiny bit, it will become a pool of stagnant water, which will no longer be able to prosper and use, but will establish the function of sublimation and endless life.If you only think of "purifying the heart wave", it can be used as the ultimate. If there is the slightest deviation, it will lead to the confusion of "moving and easily chaotic".Therefore, the system of Tibetan Tantric practice is different from Eastern Tantrics in that the "Generation Stage" and "Consummation Stage" are the purpose of Tantra. "Generation stage" is a great function to purify the mind and prosper the phantasm. The "Consummation Stage" refers to the ultimate goal of returning to the true state and returning to the true state by stopping the heart wave.In fact, this is the same as Tiantai's three kinds of meditation, "empty, false, and neutral" practice sequence, only the name is different, and the starting point of the theory is slightly different from the starting point of the practice. In the final analysis, there is no difference after all.
