Chapter 5 Part I Taoism, Esoteric Buddhism and Eastern Mysticism-5

About the Mystery of Tantric Mudra Dongmi's body secret focuses on the combination of "handprints", and the schematic diagrams in the previous picture are only part of the gestures related to "handprints".Because there are too many types of "handprints" in Tantric Buddhism, it is temporarily omitted. In short, in the theory of Esoteric Buddhism, it is believed that the ten fingers of both hands are connected with the Buddha-nature of the Dharma Realm (the function of the universe body) externally, and internally connected with the internal organs. Therefore, when practicing Tantra, forming "hand seals" can interact with the body secrets of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas that have been accomplished in the Dharma Realm, increasing the effect of quick success, and at the same time, it is equivalent to having the supernatural power of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

In fact, the concept of the mystical effect of "Mudra" was not created by the Tantra of Buddhism. It has long been popular in India's inherent Brahmanism to attach importance to the role of "Mudra".The alchemists of the Taoist talisman school after the Qin and Han Dynasties in China also had the "Nianjue" and "handprint" stuff.Even some people who especially worship Taoism and love Chinese culture believe that the "handprints" and the study of Qimai of Tantric Buddhism, and even the yoga technique of India, were all passed down from China. This is equivalent to the Taoist disciples after the Northern Wei Dynasty and the late Tang and Five Dynasties who fabricated a Taoist classic called "Lao Zi Hua Hu Jing", saying that Lao Tzu rode a green bull out of Hangu Pass, crossed the quicksand to India, and transformed into a Buddhist monk. Kamuni. At the same time, in Buddhism, they also refused to give in to each other. They fabricated Buddhist scriptures, saying that when Venerable Yingye traveled to China, he transformed into Laozi. The Confucian boy Bodhisattva came with a wish and turned into Confucius. These are all based on narrow religious sentiment and religious psychology. They ask for trouble and become nonsense, which is only ridiculed by knowledgeable people.

Mysteries about the Qi Channels of the Human Body But in the early Tang Dynasty, since Master Padmasambhava entered Tibet from North India and taught Tantric Buddhism that spread in Tibet, for the mystery of human body secrets, he suddenly highlighted the theory of three channels and seven wheels, or simply called three channels and four wheels. Covers the content of all practices such as tantra and yoga. From this development, it constitutes the Tibetan secret traditionally mastered by Padmasambhava. The method of practicing the physical body (the existing body) is integrated, and there are "cultivation of qi, cultivation of veins, cultivation of clear points, cultivation of clumsy fire (or known as for psionic heat and psionic power)" and so on.At the same time, for the mental methods of cultivating the mind, when combined, there are achievement procedures such as "additional practice yoga, single-minded yoga, Lixi (play theory) yoga, no cultivation and no certificate".Then from the part of body practice, analyze the Qi channels in detail, starting from the three and four chakras, the crown chakra covers thirty-two meridians, the throat chakra covers sixteen meridians, the heart chakra covers eight meridians, and the navel chakra covers sixty-four meridians in total. Baishimai has an incisive theory about the mysteries of life, and believes that the human body's Qimai and the functions of the universe are directly related to the mysteries.

Diagram of three chakras and four chakras (these chakras lead to the whole body and the central and side channels) After understanding the concepts of the human body's Qi channels in Dongmi and Tibetan secrets, we can compare them with the Taoist theory of Qi channels (eight channels of extraordinary meridians), and cooperate with the inherent Chinese medical science - "Huang Di Nei Jing", "Nan Jing" and other theories, Invention with modern physiological anatomy, neurology, endocrinology, etc. will not only make more in-depth new discoveries in the study of the mystery of human life, but also make more important contributions to human medicine. However, modern scientific research only seeks the fine division of labor between disciplines, regardless of the comprehensive research after analysis. Therefore, it is a pity that those who are good at one cannot be good at the other, and the subjective prejudices of each other are preconceived, deeply closed and rejected, and competing to attack and ridicule. However, scholars studying mysticism in Europe and the United States, after one or two hundred years of learning, have absorbed and integrated the essence of Tibetan secrets into the content of mysticism, but they claim to come from the ancient origins of Atlantic or Egyptian culture. Now it is gradually developing and has entered the scope of "parapsychology" in science. If more in-depth research is pursued, its future evolution is bound to be very impressive, and it is by no means inferred by those who are currently closed to natural science.

Similarities and Differences in Doctrinal Theory between Explanatory Buddhism and Esoteric Buddhism In addition, in the field of Buddhism, the general practitioners of various sects of Sutra (including Zen Buddhism of course) not only think that the study of Tantric Buddhism is almost suspected of being equivalent to heretics. They even think that people who study Tantric Buddhism specialize in relationships between men and women, or are hopelessly bad. Moreover, according to the theories of Buddhist Mahayana classics, it is believed that people's bodies are just the "four major" (earth: body bones, etc. Water: blood, saliva, etc. Fire: warmth. Wind: air.) Fake body, It is only my temporary and occasional belonging, not really mine. But all sentient beings "falsely recognize the four elements as their own appearances, falsely recognize the six dusts as their own minds", and don't know that the "four elements" come together from conditions, whether they exist or not, and their original nature is empty. The practice of Tantric Buddhism is just the opposite. It not only pays attention to the energy mechanism of the human body, but also pays attention to the cultivation of the body, thinking that it is the wonderful way to become a Buddha. Therefore, the general teachings will regard it as nonsense.Strictly speaking, the concept formed by this kind of theory is not thorough in the profound meaning of the scriptures, Vinaya, and the Tripitaka in all Buddhist studies. Moreover, the ultimate emptiness of the "Prajna" and "Middle View" of the Xingzong of Buddhism in the later period is different from the ultimate meaning of the "Consciousness-Only Theory" of Xiangzong's "Consciousness-Only Studies", and they have not been fully integrated, so they cannot be integrated and cause misunderstandings.

In fact, Tantric Buddhism believes that the self-nature of the "five elements" (earth, water, fire, wind, and space) is the self-nature of the Buddhas of the five directions. place.Because it belongs to the "four elements" of materiality (all seeds of the physical world), its self-nature, that is, the attached function of "Alaya Consciousness", the mind and matter are of the same origin, and they depend on each other to exert their beautiful brilliance. So start with the "Four Great Elements" and get rid of the root of body karma, and then turn the mind and matter into one and return to the light and purity of the big round mirror. The basis of this theory is indeed in line with the deep secret of the highest principle of Buddhism. In the "Ode to the Rules of the Eight Consciousnesses" written by Master Xuan Lei, it has been pointed out that the "Alaya Consciousness" has "the roots (six roots of human physiology), body, and vessel (the material world) that are smoked and held. The role of " fully shows that everything in the physical world and the physiological functions of the human body are originally divergent changes of the same body. The so-called "four great" theories of emptiness are only the concepts that fit the actual noumenon from the analysis of mind-matter phenomena, and do not completely overthrow the dependent origination of Miaoyu and become the emptiness of annihilationism. It is a pity that ordinary scholars only pay attention to the phrase "be the master first", while ignoring the "influenced and sustained seed" and its role in giving birth to the physiology (root and body) and material world (vessel world) of human life. Moreover, most of the teachings of the Sutras focus on the identification and correction of metaphysical ontology, so as to break the concept of ordinary people's attachment to phenomena as entities. In terms of the true meaning of Buddhism, these are the practices that focus on the "dharma body", regardless of the actual realization of the "retribution body" and "transformation body".What's more, ordinary people have neglected the key points pointed out in the scriptures that after leaving the desire realm, they must live in the form realm to achieve success. The inner meaning of being able to become a Buddha.

However, this kind of theory has been spread and mixed in Chinese Taoist thought, and it has changed again and again to become the Taoist science of immortality and elixir. The so-called Daluo Jinxian can be dispersed into Qi, gathered and formed into whatever one wants. At least it can be cultivated until now to be reborn and soar in daylight.Since modern times, it has been passed down from Tibetan secrets and Taoism, attracted by European and American mysticism, and almost completely erased the metaphysical (dharma body) principle of nature and emptiness, and only blindly pursued the self-nature function of physiological essence, paying special attention to It is an experiment in the relationship between supernatural powers and physics, and it has a tendency to advance by leaps and bounds and become more mysterious. However, Tantra and Taoism, which were stuck in the ideological stage of the late nineteenth century, are still self-contained, closed their doors and honored, and are gradually withering and fragmented. Isn't it a catastrophe for Eastern culture, and it is the way to decline.
