Chapter 16 Chapter 1 Artificiality and Impermanence-10

Buddha is not a pessimist, nor is he a doomsdayist. He is a person who values reality, but we are mostly escapists. When he says that all combinations are impermanent, he doesn't take that as bad news, but simple, scientific fact.Depending on your perspective, and your awareness of this fact, impermanence can be a gateway to inspiration and hope, glory and success. For example, global warming and poverty are products of greedy capitalist conditions, but these misfortunes are reversible. This is thanks to the nature of the harmony phenomenon.Instead of relying on the supernatural ability of God's will, we only need to simply understand the nature of the harmony phenomenon to turn things around. When you understand phenomena, you can manipulate them and thus affect conditions. You might be surprised how much globalization can be delayed by a small step like banning plastic bags.

When we recognize the instability of karma, we realize that we have the power to transform obstacles and accomplish the impossible. This is true at all levels of life.If you don't own a Ferrari right now, it's entirely possible that you can create the karma to own one.As long as there is a Ferrari in the world, you have the opportunity to own it.Similarly, if you want to live longer, you can choose not to smoke and exercise more.A reasonable hope exists. And despair, its opposite, blind faith, is the result of believing in permanence. Not only can you change the outer physical world, but you can also change the inner emotional world. For example, by letting go of ambition, transforming the restless heart and making it calm; or being kind and generous, so as to build a good reputation. If we can all train ourselves to put ourselves in His shoes, we can grow peace in our families, our neighborhoods, and internationally.

These are all examples of how we can affect the phenomenon of harmony in the world.Siddhartha also discovered that even the most horrific hells and punishments are compound and therefore impermanent.Hell does not exist forever somewhere under the earth, and the punished are tortured there forever. It's more like a nightmare. You dreamed that you were trampled by an elephant, which was produced by various conditions.First, you fell asleep, and second, you may have had a bad experience with an elephant. No matter how long the nightmare lasts, during that time, you are in hell. Then, because of an alarm clock, or simply because you've had enough sleep, you wake up.That dream is a temporary hell, and it is no different from the "real" hell in our conception.

Likewise, if you hate someone and act aggressively or in retaliation, that's a hell of an experience in itself.Hate, political manipulation, and revenge make hell in this world, so we see boys shorter, smaller, and lighter than an AK-47, too busy playing games or celebrating birthdays. It's nothing like hell.We have this kind of hell because of karma, so we can also use the love and compassion taught by the Buddha to deal with anger and hatred to get out of this hell. The concept of impermanence is not a prophecy of the end of the world or natural enemies, nor is it the punishment of man for his sins.It has no inherent positive or negative, it is just part of the process of things coming together. We usually only want half the process of impermanence. We want to live and not die, only gain and not lose, only the end of the exam and not its beginning.True relief comes from embracing the whole cycle instead of clinging to the parts you like.By remembering the variability and impermanence of conditions, whether positive or negative, we can use them to our advantage.Wealth, health, peace, fame, like their opposites, are temporary. And Siddhartha certainly had no preference for heavenly views or heavenly experiences, which are also impermanent.

We may not understand why Siddhartha said that all combined things are impermanent? Why didn't he just say that everything is impermanent? It is also correct to say that everything is impermanent without mentioning the word "hehe".However, we take every opportunity to remind ourselves of this first part, this combined nature, thus maintaining the logic behind the statement. The nature of harmony is easy to understand, but it has many layers, and to understand it deeply, it needs to be kept in mind at all times. Everything that exists or operates in this world, everything that is imagined and constituted by entities, everything that is thought in the mind, even the mind itself, will never exist forever. Some things may last as long as your lifetime experience. There are even possibilities that carry over to the next generation, but they may also fade away sooner than you expect.Regardless, change is inevitable. This has nothing to do with chance first. If you feel hopeless, remember this, you will not be part of China, the Netherlands will be part of Turkey, regardless of the inconceivable; it is not impossible that you will kill someone or spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair. You could become a billionaire, a savior of all mankind, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, or an enlightened person.
