Dharma Overview 明旸法师 2137Words 2018-03-20
The Tiantai sect takes Nagarjuna as its first ancestor and Northern Qi Huiwen as its second ancestor.Zen Master Huiwen studied and practiced rigorously. He read "Great Wisdom Theory": "The three wisdoms are obtained in one heart", and "Zhonglun": "The law born of cause and condition, I say, is empty, also called false name, also named Zhongdaoyi" a verse. So he suddenly realized the philosophy of "one mind and three views", and passed it on to his disciple Nanyue Huisi. After thinking and contemplating the mind, he realized the Dharma Samadhi in meditation, and then entered Nanyue, opened the door of Dharma widely, and educated the masses. From time to time, a wise master came to learn Zen. The two masters and apprentices got along very well at first sight. Thinking about the master, he said: "I used to listen to the Dharma flowers together in Lingshan, so I lived there because of fate. I will come here in the future!" Medicine King's Works": "It is true diligence, it is the name of true offering to the Tathagata", that is, to realize the Dharma Hua Samadhi, and to see Lingshan for a while in the middle of concentration, as if it has not left, to remind the master, Huisi said: "If you don't know, I don’t know.” I lived in Dasu Mountain for seven years and began to go down the mountain at the age of thirty-two. I spent eight years in Nanjing Waguan explaining the teachings of both meditation and wisdom. After moving to Tiantai Mountain, the title of Tiantai Master came from this.Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty, Wang Guang of Jin Dynasty, welcomed him to Yangzhou, conferred the Bodhisattva precepts, and bestowed the title of Master of the Wise.In the seventeenth year of Emperor Kaihuang's life, he lived to be sixty-seven years old and died in Shicheng Temple. He is the author of "Maha Zhiguan", "Fahua Xuanyi" and "Fahua Wenju", which are known as the three major volumes of Tiantai in the world. He also wrote "Guanyin Yishu", "Guanyin Xuanyi", "Guanyin Jingshu", "Golden Guangming Sutra Yishu", "Golden Guangming Jingwenju", etc., which are called the five small parts of Tiantai.Master Jingxi also said: "This sect takes "Fa Hua" as its essence, "Zhi Lun" as its guide, "Great Classic" as its support, and "Great Pin" as its observation method."Therefore, the "Great Wisdom Theory", "The Great Nirvana Sutra", and "The Great Prajna Sutra" are also the sutras that this sect relies on.

Tiantai sect, five o'clock and eight religions have been mentioned above, so I won't repeat them. The characteristics of its teachings are briefly described as follows: (1) One thought of three thousand This saying is based on the "Hua Yan Sutra": "The mind is like a painter, creating all kinds of five aggregates. Among all dharmas, there is no way to create it; like the Buddha in the heart, and all living beings like the Buddha. However, the Buddha in the heart and all living beings are three things. difference". "You should observe the nature of the Dharma Realm, everything is created by the mind." "One thought" belongs to the heart, and "three thousand" refers to the dharma realm. How can the three thousand dharma realms be created by one thought?Master Tiantai said: When we think of greed, we will fall into the realm of hell; if we think of hatred, we will fall into the realm of hungry ghosts; if we think of ignorance, we will fall into the realm of animals; Dharma Realm: When one thought of five precepts arises, it will fall into the human Dharma Realm; if one thought of Ten Kindness arises, it will fall into the Heaven Dharma Realm; When the mind of transforming others arises, it will fall into the bodhisattva dharma realm; if a thought of equality arises, it will fall into the dharma realm of Buddha. These ten dharma realms, the realms complement each other, harmoniously integrate each other, and form hundreds of dharma realms.According to the ten such things in the "Lotus Sutra, Convenience Products": "This is the appearance, the nature, the body, the force, the action, the cause, the condition, the effect, the reward, the end and the end, etc." There are ten such things in the dharma realm, and there are thousands of such things in a hundred dharma realms.Among the thousand such things, there are one thousand of five yin and real dharmas, one thousand of sentient beings' pseudonyms, and one thousand of retribution for the land, which constitutes the principle of three thousand in one thought. What I said above is that there are three thousand things created by things, and the appearance of things starts from the rationality, so there are three thousand things that are rational. "Two weights and three thousand, live together with one thought."

(2) One Mind, Three Views and Three Noble Truths The "Three Views" are the three views of emptiness, falsehood, and neutrality. There are three internal and external views: the internal three views are established according to the three wisdoms in the "On the Degree of Wisdom".For a while, there is no appearance, which is called emptiness, what cannot be unprepared is called false, and what is not one and the same is called being in the middle. In the mind of one thought, Farr has it all.The outer three views mean that all dharmas have three views. According to the "Middle View": "The law born of karma, I say, is empty (empty view), also called false name (false view), also called middle morality (middle view) . ” The three methods of contemplation, every method of contemplation, has three. For example, when observing emptiness, both the false and the middle are empty, and the same is true when viewing the false, empty, and middle.Like a gourd falling into the water, its surface will be flooded, and the mercury will fall to the ground, and each one will be round.

The "Three Noble Truths" are true, false and middle. The true truth obliterates all dharmas, the common truth establishes all dharmas, and the middle truth unifies all dharmas. In every dharma, there are these three truths. The Three Contemplations are the ability to observe the mind, and the Three Noble Truths are the objects to be observed, which can be blended and inseparable. That's why the ancients said: "Three Noble Truths, Three Contemplations, Three Non-Three, Three One One and Three have nothing to do with it.He also said: "The state is wonderful, the false view is empty, and the double forgetfulness of the view is in the middle. If you can recognize the Buddha's state, the present view is like space."

(3) Six is the Buddha (1) Li is the Buddha: the Buddha-nature possessed by sentient beings, which does not decrease in the ordinary and does not increase in the holy.Gu De has a verse: "Movement and stillness are all principles, and things in action and storage are absolutely wrong. The dark and dark go with things, and you don't know where you go when you are gone." (2) The name is the Buddha: Hearing the Dharma, he understands that the original Buddha nature is equal to all the Buddhas in the ten directions.Gude has a verse: "I heard the song of no life before I heard the song of immortality. Now I know the right way, and I regret it and waste it."

(3) Contemplation is the Buddha: start walking according to the ability, always return to the light, and deduce the self-nature.Gu De has a verse: "When you think about it, follow the usual principles, and your mind captures the phantom dust, and you can see all dharmas, there is neither false nor true." (4) Resemblance is the Buddha: Power is obtained from observation and action, and the coarse dirt falls first, as if seeing the true.Gu De has a verse: "Although the four dwellings are removed first, the six dusts are not completely empty, there is still a cloud in the eyes, and the flowers are red in the sky."

(5) Participation is the Buddha: With the improvement of kung fu, one can break through ignorance and see the nature of dharma. In order to disperse a gap of cloud and mist, one can see a piece of blue sky.Gu De has a verse: "Kuoer's heart is enlightened, and everything is clear, the source of poverty is still unfinished, and the moon is still dim." (6) The ultimate is the Buddha: the five dwellings are exhausted, the second death is eternal death, and the blessings and wisdom are perfect.Gu De has a verse: "It has always been false, and today it is true, but the original self-nature, and there is no new method."

Six is the meaning of the Buddha's words, so that ordinary people understand that although there are six types of differences in Buddhism and Taoism, they are always the same, and overcome the inferiority complex of Buddhism and Taoism.Although there are six types of differences, Fan Sheng is in order, which can correct the arrogance and arrogance of the arrogant. (4) The theory of good and evil in nature "Xing" refers to the nature of the dharma realm, that is, the true nature of everyone, which has goodness and evilness.Master Tiantai believes that there are sentient beings in the Ten Dharma Realms, with both good and evil natures, so after reaching the Buddhahood, they can still show the evil appearances of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals and teach them.It is also like the Buddha Gold Gang Yaksha and other angry, greedy, angry, and ignorant statues who commit crimes against all violent and evil beings and do all kinds of evil deeds. This is the good use of evil deeds. The evil appearances of all living beings here are caused by evil karma, and even when they reach Buddhahood, they can show evil appearances in illusions to save sentient beings.Because of the theory of Xingju, Tiantai Sect is also known as Xingju Zong.

Tiantai sect is famous for its meditation and meditation. There are three kinds of meditation on Tiantai: (1) gradual meditation, (2) indeterminate meditation, and (3) continuous meditation. Gradually stopping and contemplating: It is the order of the deep and shallow Dharma gates, starting from the human and heavenly vehicles, and ending with the Bodhisattva and Buddha vehicles, gradually accumulating the merits of practice. That is, "The Paramita Method of Interpretation of Chan Gate" is. Indeterminate Contemplation: Gradually or abruptly, there is no fixed method to achieve the truth of reality. That is, "Six Wonderful Gates".

Round stop and stop observation: do not focus on all kinds of dharmas, but intuit the truth of all dharmas. That is, "Maha Zhiguan" is.
