The Pure Land Method is the sect of Buddhism that is easiest for people to accept and believe in.It is convenient and easy to practice, so it leads people to study happily and believe in it.The most widely spread and the most influential, it is really the supreme method of "whether a man or a woman can always cultivate, whether wise or stupid".If we practice according to this and spend our whole life, we will surely achieve the lofty goal of getting rid of suffering and gaining happiness, liberating life and death, and transcending the three realms. The basis of Pure Land Buddhism comes from the Three Pure Land Classics. "Contemplating the Infinite Life Sutra", "The Buddha Said the Infinite Life Sutra", and "Amitabha Sutra".In the teaching method of Tiantai Five Seasons, it belongs to the third period and other divisions. From the perspective of Buddhism, all dharmas develop according to the combination of causes and conditions. This is an objective law, and the Pure Land Dharma is no exception.

(1) Viewing the Sutra of Amitayus The cause and condition of the initiation of the Pure Land Method is based on the "Contemplation of the Infinite Life Buddha Sutra".The Chinese translation of "Guan Wuliang Shou Jing" has two translations in the fifth column of "Kaiguang Shijiaolu".which is: 1. Co-translated by Liu Song, Qi Liangsheng 2. Translated by Liu Song Tanmo Miduo This sutra is when Shazun preached in front of 1,250 sound hearers and 32,000 Bodhisattvas in the northeast of Majiatuo King's Shecheng (also known as Lingjiu Mountain). The palace events that happened in Shecheng are the classics described as the cause.

Ajashi, the prince of Rajagha, was instigated by the devas' evil words and imprisoned his father, King Bimbasara, and he himself became the king.Bimbisara's queen, Mrs. Wei Tixi, was afraid that the king would starve to death, so she smeared honey on her body, put apple wine in the crown on her head, and secretly dedicated it to King Bimbisara.Moggallana, a Buddhist disciple, went to the king every day to preach.King Ajashi hoped that his father would die as soon as possible. He was deeply angry when he heard what his mother, Mrs. Wei Tixi, and Buddhist disciple Moggallana had done in the prison. He wanted to have his mother, Mrs. Waitish, executed. At this time, two ministers, Yueguang and Qipo, advised King Ajashi: "In ancient times, in order to seize the throne, many people killed their fathers, but I have never heard of a king who killed his mother. If the king does this, it is really filthy." The royal family is no different from the Candara (butchers other than the four surnames), and Andrew is also called the king."As a last resort, Ajashi shut his mother, Mrs. Wei Tixi, into the deep palace. After Mrs. Wei Tixi was imprisoned, she was sad and miserable. He looked at the top of Vulture Mountain and knelt down to ask the Buddha for help. The wisdom eye of Buddha Zun knew the heart of Mrs. Wei Tixi, that is, the supernatural power appeared in the palace from Mount Qijabori. After Wei Tixi paid homage to Sakyamuni, he told him about his son's evil deeds, which made him very worried, and asked Sakyamuni to teach him.

According to Mrs. Wei Tixi's wish, Shazun said to show the pure land of the ten directions. Mrs. Wei Tixi deeply wished to be reborn in the pure land world of Western bliss, and asked for a way to visualize the pure land. The Buddha taught him sixteen kinds of meditation methods. To practice contemplation and mindfulness of the Buddha, one should first purify the three karmas of body, speech and mind.Concentrate on the truth of the mind, visualize the Western Paradise, and seek rebirth in that country.Be sure to practice the three blessings sincerely and respectfully.First, we must be filial and support our parents, and we must serve our teachers sincerely.Be compassionate and practice the ten good deeds. The second is to diligently accept and uphold the Three Refuges Dharma, possess pure precepts, and do not violate the majesty. The third is to generate bodhicitta, firmly believe in cause and effect, and read and recite Mahayana scriptures.

The main content of "Contemplation of the Infinite Life Buddha Sutra" is the sixteen contemplations. (1) Viewing the Sun: Concentrate on observing the sunset in the west like a hanging drum. (2) Contemplation of water: Visualize with a clear mind that the western water freezes, clean and bright, like glass. (3) Contemplation of the Earth: Contemplating the land of the Land of Ultimate Bliss with one heart, the glazed land is clear inside and outside, pure and solemn. (4) Tree view: Visualize the seven-layered tree with one mind, all the treasures are synthesized, and the eight treasures of the branches, leaves, flowers and fruits are intertwined.

(5) Contemplation of the eight meritorious waters: Concentrate on contemplating that the eight meritorious waters flow out of the mani water like wishful beads and pour into Huajian. (6) Overview: Visualize the Land of Ultimate Bliss with one mind, made of many treasures, pavilions, towers and pavilions, gathered in the sky, perform celestial music, and always recite the Three Jewels. (7) Huazuo Contemplation: Concentrate on the Seven Treasures Pond, the Hundred Treasures Huatai, the Wonderful Pearl Net, and the Vajra Throne, which can be realized as one wishes, and perform great Buddha deeds.

The above seven views are based on reports. (8) Image viewing: Visualize Amitabha Buddha sitting on the Baohua Terrace with one mind, and the two great Bodhisattvas Avalokitesvara and Shizhi standing on the left and right, magnifying the light and illuminating the ten directions.Waterfowl and trees all speak the magic method. (9) Contemplation of the Buddha's body: Contemplation of all appearances.Contemplating with one heart the light of the body of the Buddha of Infinite Life, the white hair turning like five sumeras, and the blue eyes clarifying the four great oceans. In the appearance of the body, I can see the immeasurable Buddhas of the ten directions.

(10) Avalokitesvara: Contemplating with one mind, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has a round light bun, a purple-gold body, and a majestic appearance. Five hundred Buddhas and Bodhisattvas change freely and fill the Dharma Realm. (11) Possession of potentiality: Contemplate the purple-gold body of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva wholeheartedly, with a round light illuminating everywhere, and in the light of one pore, you can see countless Buddhas in the ten directions. When the Bodhisattva walked, the world in the ten directions shook the earth. (12) Universal Viewing: Concentrating on the Land of Ultimate Bliss, the Lord is accompanied by the adornment, the body sits on a lotus flower, often hears the wonderful Dharma, and practices the Tao diligently.

(13) Miscellaneous thoughts: visualize Amitabha Buddha with one mind, with supernatural powers at ease.In the lands of the ten directions, it manifests according to the species. The three sages manifest together, regardless of size, sitting on a lotus flower. (14) Contemplation of previous lives: Contemplating all living beings in the previous generation with one heart, with three kinds of hearts: sincere heart, deep heart, and dedication to make aspirations. One day and one night, the lotus flower is applied, and within seven days, one can see the Buddha. (15) Middle-generation view of life: Contemplate with one mind, full of dignity, and wish to be reborn.See yourself, sit on the lotus platform, hear the Four Noble Truths, and get the way of Arhat.Hearing Dharma Tsang's twenty-four vows, the Bhikkhu bends and stretches his arms, and he is born in the Land of Ultimate Bliss.

(16) Contemplation of life in the next generation: contemplation with one mind, serious sins, sincere repentance, concentrating on the Buddha, and eliminating sinful obstacles. At the end of his life, he sits on a lotus flower and is born in the Land of Ultimate Bliss. After the twelve great kalpas, the lotus blossoms will bloom, and one will hear the truth of reality, and arouse the bodhicitta. The above nine views are the views of righteous reward. In short, from the first visualization to the sixteenth visualization, they all focus on contemplating the immeasurable and solemn state of the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss.Make Mrs. Wei Tixi hate Saha deeply, and wish to live in bliss. When it comes to contemplating the wonderful actions and achieving success in kung fu, anytime, anywhere, with eyes open and closed, you can see the wonderful state of the Paradise of Ultimate Bliss, which is pure and solemn. This is the causal relationship between the destruction of the Saha seal and the completion of the Pure Land culture. This "Sutra of Contemplating Infinite Life" is the cause and condition for the initiation of the Pure Land method.

After listening to Shizun's statement, Mrs. Wei Tixi became enlightened immediately, and she was able to bear the law of inexistence. The five hundred maids also aroused the bodhicitta and vowed to be reborn in the Pure Land. The Buddha will see the Buddhas and understand the Dharma for them to be reborn in the Pure Land. The palace talk is over.Shizun then returned to Mount Qijabori. The attendant Ananda recounted the content of the palace saying to the people in Qijajue. Therefore, viewing the scriptures is said twice: one is the saying of Shazun in the palace. The second is Ananda's retelling on Mount Qijabori. The former is called Wanggonghui, and the latter is called Qijajushanhui.Although the speakers are different, the content is the same. The scriptures are said to be established twice, also known as one classic and two meetings. Shandao commented on the sect of this sutra in "Guan Jing Shu": "Taking the samadhi of observing the Buddha as the sect, and also taking the samadhi of reciting the Buddha as the sect. It is the body to devote one heart to rebirth in the pure land."It can be seen from this that the Sutra of Contemplation is a sutra based on the Buddhist samadhi and the Buddhist chanting samadhi. The thirteen contemplations of Dingshan are the three tastes of Buddha, and the ninth grade of Sanshan is the samadhi of reciting Buddha. The Buddhist samadhi is said at the request of Mrs. Wei Tixi according to his wishes. The samadhi of reciting Buddha's name in Sanshan is a self-willed theory for ordinary people who will relax their minds in the future.Sakyamuni did not enjoin Venerable Ananda to observe the Buddha Samadhi, but only to recite the Buddha Samadhi. Therefore, one of the purposes of Shakyamuni's teaching and revealing this sutra is to recite the Buddha.Viewing Buddha Samadhi is a convenient way to say what others want. (2) Amitabha Sutra There are three translations of the Amitabha Sutra, namely: 1. Translated by Yao Qin Kumarajiva, Volume 1 of the Amitabha Sutra 2. Translated by Liu Songqiu Nabhadhara 3. A volume of scriptures in praise of the Pure Land Buddha, translated by Tang Xuanzang This sutra is a scripture that Sakyamuni said in the southern Gion Abode of Savatthi City in the Kosala Kingdom, together with the elder Shariputra and other sixteen great disciples, Manjusri and other great Bodhisattvas, as well as many Buddhist disciples and audiences. The main content of this sutra has three aspects: First, it explains in detail the various excellences of the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss, the World of Retribution and the World of Right Retribution, so as to make all living beings have confidence and believe in the Pure Land method of reciting Buddha's name.At the beginning of the scriptures, it is said that it is necessary to report the various solemnities of the world. The Buddha told Venerable Shariputra that in the west of our world, after passing through ten billion Buddha lands, there is a world called Ultimate Bliss, and in that world, there is a Buddha named Amitabha. Now I am teaching the Dharma to save all sentient beings. The environment of this world has seven layers of fences, seven layers of nets, seven layers of trees, pools of seven treasures, water of eight merits, lotus flowers of four colors, pavilions of seven treasures, and ground made of gold, all of which are made of seven treasures. The wind blows the snare net, often making heavenly music, and all the birds sing together, all playing the sound of the Dharma. After hearing the sound, all living beings have the heart to recite the Buddha, the Dharma and the monk.He also said: When the breeze blows, the trees and nets are moved, and subtle sounds are produced, such as hundreds of thousands of kinds of music, all played at the same time. Those who hear these sounds will naturally have the heart to recite the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. He also said: The light of Amitabha Buddha is immeasurable and able to illuminate the lands of the ten directions. His lifespan is also limitless and boundless asamkhya eons. His country, bodhisattvas and arhats are also immeasurable and boundless. It is also said in the scriptures that all the living beings in the world who recite the Buddha's name in the ten directions will get the three kinds of non-regression, namely, the non-regression of enthronement, the non-regression of action, and the non-regression of chanting. Secondly, the Buddha specially persuaded all living beings to make vows, wishing to be born in the West. There are all good people gather together to discuss Buddhism.Again, the Buddha said to Shariputra: You must never be born in that country with little good roots and little merit and karma.Since all living beings have heard the great name of Amitabha Buddha, we should hold on to the name with continuous recitation. For one or two days or even seven days, one should continue to practice pure thoughts. One must recite the Buddha's name until one's mind remains undisturbed, and at the time of death, one will receive Amitabha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, and many saintly beings to lead them to the Land of Ultimate Bliss. Finally, the Buddha advised all living beings to recite the Buddha's name wholeheartedly and make a vow to seek rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. The "Amitabha Sutra" is the only way to advise people to recite the Buddha's name and seek rebirth in the Pure Land. (3) Sutra of Infinite Life There are twelve versions of the Infinite Life Sutra.which is: 1.
