Chapter 42 Exploration of "Red Mansion" on the eighth floor (2)

"The Book Is Not Completed" - Eternal Regret Zhi Yan's comment clearly stated: "The book was not completed, and Qin died of tears." The three words "the book is not completed" seem simple, but there are many accidents and painful sounds hidden in it, which makes people's hearts tremble.Dun Cheng recalled Xueqin's poem: "The talented people in Ye should have hatred, and the remnant flute in the mountains and sun is unbearable!" Talented people have a lot of hatred, and "the book has not been completed" should be the greatest hatred in the hatred!

However, what is the meaning of Qin Shu's failure to complete?Although it is pan-language, it has its own facts. Is it just like the old copying of the original version and it stopped abruptly after the seventy-eighth chapter of "Xuan"?Or is there another subsequent continuation that was published late and the continuation has not been completed?Otherwise, it can also be understood that the entire manuscript has been basically completed, but there are still some places (such as poems, missing texts, damaged copies borrowed and copied...) that need to be completed, and even some chapters and paragraphs of the first-time author are not satisfied. Ready to polish, organize, change? ——This can all refer to “unfulfilled”.However, the researchers have not tested it yet, and look forward to a clever solution.

"The book is done" There are different explanations for the phrase "the book is not completed" in Zhiyan, but the probable possibility of "the book has been completed" should not be forgotten (that is, "unfinished" only means that it has not been completed and finalized). The proposition of "The Book Has Been Completed" is not a fantasy, but a factual argument. The evidence is also included in the clues provided by the "fat batch": (1) "Zhipi" repeatedly mentioned "the second half", "the next dozens of chapters" and "the last thirty chapters (a book of 'Thirty' is written as 'Thirty')"...

(2) "Zhipi" quoted "Wang Xifeng Knows Fate and Strong Heroes" from "The Last Thirty Chapters". (3) "Zhipi" refers to some plots in the last thirty chapters, such as Baoyu "letting go on a cliff", attacking noble officials "enshrining" Baoyu and Baochai, etc. (4) "Zhipi" leads to the original text of "falling leaves rustling, cold smoke and desert" that Baoyu saw when he returned to the Xiaoxiang Pavilion after Daiyu's death; Text. With these four items, there is no need to mention them again. It can be seen that Xueqin's writing is by no means limited to seventy-eight or eighty chapters.

Furthermore, Zhi Yan clearly stated: At the end of the book, there is a "love list", which is the daughter's grade ranking in the whole book.I think, if the whole book is not completed, how can the above situations be included in the commentary? Therefore, the reasonable explanation should be "the book has been completed".What it says "unfinished" refers to some places that need to be repaired, sorted out, and confirmed... It's not just writing halfway and being interrupted without success. So, what is the meaning of "the next thirty chapters"?How many chapters are Xueqin's original books divided into?

"Voltage Line" - Sequel The official introduction of the meaning of "Fuxian" should be attributed to Mr. Lu Xun.He coined the term for the first time in his novel, and used it as a major criterion for judging the pros and cons of sequels. Who is the "volt line"?It is a kind of narrative art technique of the author of the novel-the hint in some form in the previous text is distantly alluding to the development and changes of the storyline in the following text (or echoes, or reverses the decline, and the fate varies). This kind of technique is called out from time to time in Zhiyan's writing, and the commonly used saying is "the grass snake gray line, the pulse is thousands of miles away".

Mr. Lu Xun taught the history of novels at the beginning of the Republic of China (the beginning of the 1920s of the 20th century, which was called "foreign calendar" and "Western Yuan" at that time); that is, the first printed lecture notes were also as early as 1923 (see "A Brief History "Inscription, Preface). At that time, ancient manuscripts such as the "Jiaxu Version" had not yet appeared in the hands of researchers—Mr. Hu Shi received the "Jiaxu Version" in the 16th year of the Republic of China, that is, in the summer of 1927 (purchased in Shanghai). From this point of view, Lu Xun did not see the "Zhi Bian" of this manuscript that was published later. He only quoted the "Qi Liaosheng Preface" from the stone seal of Zhengshu Bureau, and he did not know that it was a kind of Zhi Yan Bian. Therefore, I think that the meaning of the word "Fuxian" is the first creation of Mr. Wang's research and understanding, and it is very important.

There is a problem here, which should be clarified first to avoid misunderstanding, that is: Lu Xun also quoted Yu Pingbo's "Dream of Red Mansions" (first edition in 1923) about the discussion of the plot after the eighty chapters, but he was not able to study it by himself at the time. However, it was misunderstood by Yu—Mr. Gai Yu failed to understand that the "second half" of the plot revealed in the original commentary in the "Qi Liaosheng Preface" was Xueqin's original work, and mistakenly believed that it was Gao E's fake Another continuation book other than forty chapters. As a result, Mrs. Yu didn't know the meaning of "Fuxian", and regarded all the hidden pens of "Grass Snake Gray Line" that "subdued thousands of miles" as the bright pens of another continuation book. This is a huge difference and should not be confused. This is the fundamental reason why I attribute the right to formally propose the understanding and theory of "Fuxian" to Lu Xun.

Lu Xun quoted a passage from Xu Yu, which is recorded as follows: There is more than one high-ranking osprey in the 80 chapters of the continuation.Yu Pingbo picks and chooses from the 80 chapters of the old commentaries prefaced by Qi Liaosheng. He knows that there are 30 chapters of sequels. Not testable. It is the criticism of "Dream of Red Mansions", which should have explored the second half of the original work, but he himself denied the nature of this work—thus affecting the development of the research work that really explored the lost feelings for the original work (both " Another continuation", why bother to ask...).This is a pity in the history of "Red Studies".

Therefore, we should also emphatically point out that what Lu Xun focused on was not the plot of the sequel, but the plot of the original work. This point is crucial.
