Chapter 148 Preface to "Zhao Puchu's Poetry Collection"

Comrade Puchu and I met during our trip to Japan in January 1955 to participate in the "World Conference on the Prohibition of Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs" headed by Comrade Liu Ningyi. When I saw layman Zhao Puchu on the list of members , I always feel that we ordinary people should keep a respectful distance from this detached layman.Unexpectedly, after meeting and talking, he turned out to be not only a respectable but also an amiable friend!He is free, easy and gentle, not only has a deep understanding of Buddhism, but also is good at calligraphy and poetry. I can't do these things, but Pu Chu is good at them.We are both members of the China Association for the Promotion of Democracy. After we got to know each other well, every time he wrote a poem or word, he would definitely give it to me.His "Witch Hazel Song", which mourns Premier Zhou Enlai, always makes me cry every time I read it.This layman can't be detached from things. He is a busy person. He has to participate in various religious activities at home and abroad.He often complains to me that he can't find a successor. I look around the world, but I can't find anyone who can be like him, at least for now!
