Chapter 145 I am grateful——A speech on the 40th anniversary of the founding of "People's Daily"

On the 40th anniversary of People's Daily, I couldn't help calling out my most sincere thanks to her from the bottom of my heart.I am grateful to all the editors and comrades of the Literature and Art Department of "People's Daily", for allowing me to print many joys and worries at that time on the page of the supplement in the past forty years! Comrade editors recalled that I published the first few articles of "Again to Qinglong Bridge" and "Again to Young Readers" in the supplement, both in 1958.I remember that in June 1956 I also published an article "A Mother's Suggestion" in the "People's Daily".

What followed were "The Story of the Dance" in 1957, "We Have No Winter Here" in 1958, "We Woke Up the Spring" in 1959, and "Sakura Blossoms" in 1961. Like" and so on. But what I am most grateful for is the article "I Request" written on October 10, 1987 and not published until November 14.Almost every day I get one or two letters from young readers, all of which are their responses to "Send to Young Readers" or "Send to Young Readers" from textbooks.Unexpectedly, it was this "I Request" that I got the most response from big readers to my work!There are about dozens of letters, and most of them are not teachers.They all sympathized with me, too.

On May 22 of this year, "People's Daily" wrote a signed commentary "More Sunshine, More Transparency", which gave me a lot of courage to spit out my throat. It is true: more transparency means more cohesion!That is to say in the article, "to close the relationship between the leaders and the masses, and to win over the masses to share their concerns for the country." In order to increase transparency, I also want to do a copy of the manuscript. In fact, these articles and news have already been published in books and periodicals. In the May issue of "Education and Occupation" magazine this year, two articles were reprinted, one was "Emphasis on Education, Improving the Quality of the Whole Nation", and the other was "Establishing Teacher Law, Improving Teachers' Status and Salary".

The previous article said at the beginning: "The report of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly pointed out that 'education is the foundation of a century-old plan' and that 'the development of education must be placed in a prominent strategic position'... If we don't make up our minds today and Be ruthless, and put education into action instead of slogans...then, revenge will be in our children and grandchildren, in the 21st century." The latter article mentioned: "Waste is very serious now. Last year on Teacher's Day, the Political and Educational Group of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference invited representatives of rural teachers to have a discussion, calling for saving the squandered and wasted money for education... We have recently The newspaper read: 25 million yuan to build a "dead factory", and more than 200 machines and equipment are in danger of becoming scrap iron... In the past two or three years, they have spent 300 million U.S. dollars in foreign exchange and imported 3,000 sets of food machinery, including 700 yuan of ice cream machines. There are more than 300 ice cream machines... Some people say that we only see an 'ice cream crisis' and an 'ice cream crisis', but not an 'education crisis'."

The author calls for unifying our thoughts with the spirit of the 13th CPC National Congress, and putting the development of education in a prominent strategic position. All right!I finally saw the exciting news published in the "People's Daily" on May 28th that excited the people of the whole country!That is to say, on the morning of May 27, Premier Li Peng presided over the sixth executive meeting of the State Council and decided to stop the construction of a number of unnecessary buildings and institutions. The money saved will be used for education and improving people's lives.
