Chapter 69 Talented people who have joined the WTO are as beautiful as flowers

The editor of the Overseas Edition of "People's Daily" asked me to write an article about Chinese female writers, and a poem from the ancients immediately came to my mind: "Only one who enters the world is as beautiful as a flower." From the "May 4th Movement" to today in the 1980s, the female writers I know or know are like a hundred flowers in full bloom, competing for beauty: plum, orchid, lotus, chrysanthemum, rose, peony, acacia, smiling... ...The human faces and words passed one after another on the screen of my heart, very vivid and vivid. Each of these flowers has its own color, each has its own fragrance, each has its own charm, grace and strength of character!

The "May 4th" era can be regarded as the early spring of modern female writers. The mountain peaches bloom first, and the color is still light red, followed by deep yellow winter jasmine and thick purple lilac. I remember the "May 4th" era, our predecessors were Mr. Yuan Changying and Mr. Chen Hengzhe, and my contemporaries were Huang Luyin, Su Xuelin and Feng Yuanjun. Then there was Ling Shuhua, my Yanda classmate who lived in England for many years and still has correspondence.Speaking of Yanda classmates, Yang Gang and Han Suyin, they are much younger than me.Yang Gang was the editor of Hong Kong Ta Kung Pao during the Anti-Japanese War. Most of the articles I wrote at that time were "forced" by her.Han Suyin lived in Switzerland for a long time and wrote in English. She often goes back to China to visit relatives, and almost always comes to see me, and sends me every book she publishes. In 1925, I met Lin Huiyin in Qisejia in the United States. At that time, she was the fiancée of Liang Sicheng, a good friend of my boyfriend Wu Wenzao, and she was also the most beautiful and delicate female writer I had ever seen.Later, I often saw her poems and essays in "New Moon", which are really like a person.Ding Ling and I met through my younger brother Bing Ji in 1928. About our friendship, I mentioned it in the "Mourning Ding Ling" I wrote last year. After I returned from Japan in 1951, I met many female writers, such as Yang Mo and Cao Ming.I came into contact with Ru Zhijuan a little later. One year when I went to Shanghai, I saw her smoking, drinking, and talking and laughing at Ba Jin's banquet in Shanghai. She was really heroic.I once wrote an article in "People's Daily", introducing her novel "Quiet Maternity Hospital".I envy that she also has a writer's daughter, Wang Anyi. I have also written prefaces to An Yi's works. Both Zhang Jie and Chen Rong are familiar to me. I like Zhang Jie's "Heavy Wings" very much, and I wrote a preface for her early works.Chen Rong has the most sense of humor among the female writers. She and Ru Zhijuan both smoke. Unfortunately, I have already quit smoking and can no longer accompany me.Chen Rong is also a gourmet. He once made scallion duck at my house.I have always been a person who can eat but can't cook, and I am happy to "sit back and enjoy the benefits".I just met Zhang Xinxin recently, and she has written a lot of works. I appreciate her "Peking Man", which makes people feel kind.Yesterday essayist Ding Ning brought a pot of jellyfish to see me. She is my "shack friend". During the ten years of turmoil, we "lived together" for some time.

In Sichuan in the early 1940s, Lao She introduced Zhao Qingge to me. She wrote scripts, and she and Lao She co-wrote "The Teacher of All Ages", which was about the deeds of Mei Yiqi, the president of Tsinghua University.Zhao Qingge and I still communicate frequently. The essayist Zong Pu, we have known each other since the 1950s. Her prose is as fragrant as the narcissus on my desk now.I met Yang Jiang after reading her "Six Chapters of Cadre School" and admired her very much. She not only writes, but also translates. She is a versatile person.Huang Zongying is also versatile. I saw her play Cousin Mei in Ba Jinzhong on the screen, and later read her very interesting articles such as "Little Girl Carrying the Big Banner".

Xin Fengxia is an actress, but her autobiographical articles are very sincere and moving. Wu Zuguang brought her to see me and asked me to write a preface for her anthology, and I readily agreed.Chen Yuqing and her lover Ma Dajing co-wrote the novel under the pen name of Dali. I admire their works very much. They often came to see me, and Yuqing even gave me a homemade cloth figurine, which I hung on the wall in front of my bed, and it smiled at me every day. Those who have met me or visited me include Ye Wenling, Yixi Tenzin, Zhang Kangkang, and very young Tie Ning and Yu Shan, all of whom are very talented writers.

Now it's time to talk about poetesses.Ke Yan's poem in memory of the Prime Minister especially touched my heart. She, like me when I was young, loves to wear black clothes.Among the poets is Shu Ting. Ever since I read her poems praising the motherland, I have always looked for her poems in books and periodicals. One year when the Writers Association held a meeting, seven fellow villagers from Fujian came to see me, and one of them was Shu Ting, who was wearing a green blouse.Among the female poets is Li Xiaoyu, the daughter of the poet Li Ying. She goes out to interview and explore, and writes very good poems.

Wei Junyi is an editor I knew well in the 1950s. After reading a few books written by her, I realized that she is still an excellent writer. Her works are very simple and sincere. At the beginning of this year, she also suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage. I was very anxious to hear that. A few days ago, my youngest daughter’s lover, Chen Shu, went to check on her for me. She even stood up from the sofa and said that she was still "ok".This image is just like her upright personality! The young one is Chen Zufen. When I commented on her "Economy and People", I once compared her to a lion cub playing with a ball, but she herself is very gentle and elegant. There is Ge Cuilin who writes children's literature, a little girl who accompanied Lao She to see me when I returned from Japan in 1951, and is now a veteran of children's literature.

Here we must talk about women writers abroad.Yu Lihua in the United States visited me in the early 1970s.Where is Nie Hualing? One year when I went to Overseas Chinese Building to see Ling Shuhua who had returned from China, I visited her family. The works of these foreign writers are full of nostalgia and care for their homeland and people, which is very moving. In addition, there are young female writers in the United States, as well as my friend's daughter Liu Nianling, whose pen name is Mu Lingqi, who writes novels; Pu Lilin, whose pen name is Xindi, who writes poetry; they all returned to the mainland.Nian Ling taught at Peking University, and Lilin lived in my house for a summer.

They are all like my own daughters. All of the female writers mentioned above, domestic or overseas, are all I have met.Fang Lingru, Chen Xuezhao, Liu Zhen, Chen Jingrong, Hang Ying, Cheng Naishan, Wang Xiaoying, whom I have never seen but have long admired; Chen Ruoxi, Li Li, etc. who are overseas, I can't think of them all at the moment! There are also several female journalists among the female writers. The first one I met was Fengzi, and later there were Peng Zigang, Ge Yang... The friendship between us, let’s talk about it later when we have time! I think that the "talent" of Chinese female writers is not inferior to that of male writers. They also write vividly and vividly their unique thoughts and opinions on family, society, country and the world. It's a pity that most of their works have not been translated into foreign languages, so Chinese female writers should go out of Asia and go to the world!
