Chapter 100 "Dream of Red Mansions" ① Preface

A letter from Qingge asked me to write a preface to her "Dream of Red Mansions".Recalling a cold night in Chongqing in 1943, we talked about it. At that time, she was thinking of writing a historical play, and I advised her to put the characters of "Dream of Red Mansions" on the stage of a drama—it has been forty years! Qingge lost her mother at the age of five, and lived a lonely and wandering life since she was a child. This formed her lonely and sad character, and also aroused her sympathy for the neglected and oppressed people in society. She connected the unfair and unreasonable dark life in the society with the difficult fate of the country and her own bumpy road. Using literature and art as a weapon, she continued to write works that exposed the suffering of the people and inspired patriotism. She has written many novels, plays, and screenplays over the decades, and screenplays are but one part of her creative oeuvre.

These scripts, through the encounters of Jia's characters, such as Bao and Dai, such as Sanchun, such as Eryou, such as Qingwen... becoming victims of the dark feudal system, flogged the feudal crimes.Showing these tragedies had practical significance at the time. Decades have passed, and Qingge still insists on writing despite his many illnesses.I invite ① "Dream of Red Mansions Drama Collection", Sichuan Literature and Art Publishing House, June 1985, first edition. She takes care, but I hope she can write more when she can, because she has her own style.March 13, 1982
