Chapter 78 Preface to "Bing Xin's Theory of Creation"

Three teachers from the Chinese Department of the Central University for Nationalities: Wu Chongyang, Xiao Handong and Bao Xiufen spent nearly two years compiling a book called "Bing Xin's Theory of Creation".I was honored and ashamed when they showed me the catalog and asked me to write a preface. The short essays in this collection are all the prefaces I wrote to my own works from 1919 onwards, as well as articles on poetry, essays and reviews of contemporary writers scattered in various newspapers and magazines. Some of the essays are titles I feel strange looking at it myself.Over the past few decades, due to several turmoil, most of the manuscripts and collections of my own articles were lost. It is difficult for these young people to collect them one by one from nowhere, and they are quite complete.

These short essays are mostly miscellaneous essays, just like "composition experience" or "feelings after reading" written by elementary school students, without any incisive remarks.I hope readers will not be intimidated by the words "On Creation".October 15, 1981
