Chapter 34 Preface to Selected Plays of Zhang Jie's Novels

The editor of Beijing Publishing House asked me to write the preface for Comrade Zhang Jie's first collection, and I readily agreed. I became interested in the name "Zhang Jie" when I saw "There Is a Youth" written by her in the first issue of "Beijing Literature and Art" in 1979.I feel that the youth she described seems to be one of the "savage" and lovely big children I am familiar with.I was comforted and delighted to read the story of how this big boy made progress because of the attention and guidance of "a pair of quiet and gentle eyes".At the same time, the reason why the young man got the girl's attention was because she saw that "behind his vulgar and uneducated behavior, there was still a heart to pursue improvement."

With full of love and sympathy for the youth of this era, Zhang Jie wrote the following very sad words: The opportunity should have been given to us more than ten years ago, but we still cherish it and don't let it go!When we have to move forward together with babbling children, this kind of abnormal development of intelligence has brought us a lot of abnormal psychology. And the pain covered by our vulgar, uneducated, and cynical behavior is not easy for many people to understand and forgive! But she saw it and forgave it!That's why I always feel warm when I'm with her! This passage moved me!If a writer can write works that are beneficial to inspire people's revolutionary spirit and improve people's moral and aesthetic standards, he or she must be fully aware of the great responsibility of inspiring and educating the motherland and the people!

When I found out from the editor of "Beijing Literature and Art" that Zhang Jie was a young lesbian and an amateur writer, I always looked for this name in the catalogs of literary publications. The novels and scripts in this collection are all the ones I have read. From these works, I can see that she has a wide range of social contacts and knowledge, and her descriptions are also very delicate and profound. To give another example, for example, she wrote another young man who was thrown out of a normal, vibrant, simple and friendly life track because his father made a "mistake", and finally died of depression; and the young man's father , At the critical moment when his son had a little "expectation and enthusiasm", he didn't have enough courage to encourage and support his son, just because he was afraid of the life that was "much scarier than death"!

Go to Tiananmen! " For the first time, he saw something that could be called expectation and enthusiasm in his son's eyes.He knew that even the slightest hint of sympathy or support from him would give his poor, cautious and timid son great encouragement and courage, and perhaps cause him to throw away that poor thing from now on.But he didn't, he was so nervous that he wanted to suffocate: "What are you going to do?" The son hesitated, uncertain and said, "I wrote a poem..." As if stung by a scorpion, he immediately shouted nervously: "No, I can't go!"

His look as if a catastrophe was imminent made his son lose his courage immediately: "Will people die?" "No, it's not death that's scary..." The spark that had just ignited in the son's eyes died out.Back to his usual favorite corner again! No, he pushed his son back into that corner, and maybe it is not impossible for his son to come out of that corner! ...he repented! He repents endlessly! Not because of what he did, but because of what he didn't do! What a severe whiplash this should be for those parents who have no courage! Several other works in this collection also have their own characteristics in terms of materials and descriptions, and it is better to leave it to the readers to appreciate and experience by themselves.Comrade Zhang Jie is still young, and she will write many better and more mature works that benefit the people.

This first collection, however, is off to a great start! December 1979
