Chapter 32 my fervent hope

I was not able to participate in this grand meeting of "Children's Literature Creation Symposium", but looking forward to the southern sky, I can imagine that there are more than 50 children's literature writers gathered together, discussing enthusiastically how to write for children in the new era. From the bottom of my heart, I cheer for the masters of the motherland in the 21st century-the more than 200 million children in our country, happy! I very much agree with the suggestion of Teacher Ni Guyin from the Primary School Attached to Shanghai Normal University.Teacher Ni asked writers and comrades to write more works describing the images of children and teenagers with the characteristics of the new era, so as to provide examples for our young readers to learn from. She said that we can only find Timur, Zhang Ga, Haiwa, Liu Wenxue... Although these are role models that children can learn from, they are from the previous era after all, and we often find it difficult to find suitable " "educational tools", please write more about children and teenagers in this era.

As a parent of young readers, I would like to sign my name on Teacher Ni's proposal! There are still quite a few short stories written by children in this era. For example, I recently saw that in the short story collection for the 30th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China by the Children’s Times Society of the China Welfare Institute, there are several articles with a strong sense of the times. Works that children and adults will be moved by reading, such as "What He Protected" written by Comrade Zhang Wei of Hangzhou, "Buying Children Who Are Red in the Mountains" by Comrade Xia Youzhi of Beijing, and "A Movie Ticket" by Comrade Luo Chenbei of Beijing "etc.I think that using the image of children with the characteristics of the new era as the subject matter can not only write short stories, but also medium-length ones, because medium-length ones in children's literature are always shorter and more concise than those written for adults.

Children really need medium and long novels. I found that children above the third grade of elementary school, after knowing a thousand or two thousand Chinese characters, start looking for novels on the bookshelves of adults.Their thirst for knowledge is so exuberant, once they have mastered the tool of writing, they feel that short stories cannot meet their needs. When we were eleven or twelve years old, or even younger than this age, we were not the same as Are they the same? We do appreciate works that are more in line with our lives. We have a stronger love and dislike for the positive and negative characters from our familiar and intimate life, and we understand the surrounding environment of the characters better. But in my own childhood, there was indeed no such work. The only short stories I found were short ones, and only long ones.

But in 1953, a kid in the first grade of junior middle school once inspired me. He told me that he loved watching it the most.I asked him if he could understand every part of the story, including the poems at the beginning and end of the chapters, and the more difficult and complicated battle descriptions in the middle? He said with a smile, “When I encountered these places, I just skipped over and didn’t look at them. What I watched was that the four of them, the master and the apprentice, walked all the way, and they encountered different thrilling or interesting things every day, which always led me to continue. Read on...and Sun Xingzhe and Zhu Bajie are two 'people' who write so well, just like some of our classmates!"

In the summer of this year, I wrote "Tao Qi's Summer Diary", using Tao Qi as a clue to write about what happened around her in this summer.Of course, writing about real life is guided by the author's worldview. Only with the correct standards of praise and criticism can this work achieve the effect of "providing a role model for young readers to learn from" as Teacher Ni said. Here, I won't talk about the basic common sense that children's literature writers are known to everyone, such as "life is the only source of creation" and "you must love children", but from the current children's novels, school life is still the theme. From this fact, it seems that there are still some authors who have not "deeply" penetrated into life and have not explored children's interests. Children don't like to read things that plagiarize and imitate.

The characters in the books in the 1970s talked about the words of the 1940s and the "Cultural Revolution" era, and did things in the 1940s and the "Cultural Revolution" era. The children's comments were: "Fake, boring!" Schools are the places where children gather in the new era. Their life characteristics are like a kaleidoscope, with thousands of varieties and bright colors. Their family environments are different and their personalities are different. In the current period, some of them still carry Lin Biao , The aftermath of the "Gang of Four" period, and the urgency to greatly improve the level of science and culture, each person's family, school, and social environment gave them various reactions and feelings. Here, there are many things to write, life is beckoning, how about writers?

I have enthusiastic hopes for our young and middle-aged writers, they are the most prolific generation (the middle-aged generation such as Comrade Liu Binyan, the young generation such as Comrade Liu Xinwu-although the May 4th era is about 20 years old. In the eyes of those who boldly put up a pen, they are old and middle-aged people), and the oppressive and chaotic living environment of the past two decades and ten years have trained them to be more mature and wiser. Looking back on the past, they cannot help looking forward to the future. They will certainly be able to write medium and long-length works that we can't see or imagine for modern new children, with depth and breadth that are beneficial to the healthy growth of children in the modern motherland!

So, as an old man, should I let it go?No, we also have things we can write for children.Children eat a variety of food, they eat three nutritious meals, they also love to eat some snacks and snacks, and sometimes they need some "medicine"!Whether it is snacks, snacks, or medicine, I would like to contribute my meager everything.
