Chapter 133 "Mosque Flower"

sequence I wrote the preface for the book "Chinese Rose", which is full of pictures and texts, because among the hundreds of flowers, this flower is my favorite, and because these editors are all my friends; especially my "neighbors"—— —Chen Yuhua and Yang Baili, a couple of scientists and technicians, often send me handfuls of rose flowers in colorful, dewy and fragrant fragrance in the early morning! This bouquet brings me so much joy and encouragement at the start of the day. Rose flowers are just like the saying "Flowers fall and bloom without interruption, and spring comes and goes irrelevant" as the layman Dongpo chanted (so in China, roses are often called roses). In my vase, the roses are planted from April to October, shining brightly and fragrantly from the window sill of the desk.

Not only do I love the color, fragrance and taste of roses, but I also love the sharp thorns on its branches! It makes people who love flowers to be very careful when pruning and pruning flowers, and it also makes violent and hasty snatching and stealing flowers so bloody that they dare not do it easily.I think flowers are just like people, they must have their own character!Comrade Zhao Puchu wrote the second poem "Linjiang Fairy" for Comrade Xiao Shufang's flower scroll, which is my favorite: Fill in the poems for you. How can the beauty and fragrance be over? It is wonderful to hold offerings and rewards, outstanding people and immortals.

He only loves flowers and thorns, how can Feng Zhang reduce Wu Ge? Shed blood against Moro without hesitation. How about adding one if possible? I don't know whether Comrade Shufang drew roses for Comrade Piao Chu, but there are many good illustrations of roses in this book. I think this book is very well compiled. It not only describes the naming, classification, use, cultivation and management, reproduction, and appreciation of roses in detail, but also the illustrations are very vivid.Readers will appreciate and read by themselves, and there is no need for me, a flower lover who "exploits" the hard work of gardeners, to make any introduction.

But there are still some things that must be mentioned here, that is, among thousands of kinds of roses, my favorite is a kind of "tea fragrance rose" (generally called "tea fragrance rose" by Europeans and Americans). Tea Rose), this time I saw the material about roses in the book, saying that this variety is called "Peace", which made me bring a bright yellow flower that Comrade Deng Yingchao brought to the US visiting delegation on May 19 this year. "This kind of flower has a characteristic. When it first blooms, it is light yellow, and then it turns pink. This symbolizes our friendship. It was faint at the beginning, and it will gradually deepen later. "These words are connected.I guess that the rose that Comrade Deng Yingchao gave to American friends is "peace".This makes me even more fond of the rose, which symbolizes the friendship between the Chinese and American peoples!

Another thing that makes me happy and moved is that among these editors, except for the two gardening experts Zhu Xiuzhen and Liu Haoqin, the four young people are all scientific and technological personnel. Train yourself to be a very well-rounded gardener.Chen Yuhua and Yang Baili, a couple of technicians who study mechanics, spend a lot of spare time and energy on cultivating, researching, and painting roses. When I go in and out in the morning and evening, I always pass by the flower garden at their door, watching They kept digging the soil and watering the flowers, sometimes scratching their hands in the mud, looking up and smiling at me, they often lingered for a long time and couldn't bear to leave.I'm afraid this is also the reason why they saw my lingering intentions and often sent me flowers!

Comrade Shen Longzhu, one of the editors, is a radio student. He, Chen Yuhua and Yang Baili are classmates and friends of Beigong. He learned how to grow roses from them. Comrade Zhaohe is also a good friend of mine. He once worked with me in the editorial department of "People's Literature" of the Chinese Writers Association) and planted roses in his small yard.Heard it looks good. It's a pity that they live too far away, otherwise I will also "exploit" the fruits of their labor! Comrade Chen Di, one of the editors, studied metallurgy. Before the death of his mother, Comrade Jiang Entian, he didn't care much about growing roses. In the early 1930s, when I was a part-time lecturer at Tsinghua University, Comrade Jiang Entian had listened to my class, and we made friends. In the 1950s, she started growing and researching roses. When the Great Hall of the People was built in 1958, she helped design the flower beds around the Great Hall of the People, and contributed more than 300 varieties of roses at home. She and Liu Haoqin, one of the editors of this book, have jointly cultivated nearly 10,000 roses of various varieties for the Tiantan Rose Garden. She passed away tragically in 1975.

In order to commemorate his mother, Comrade Chen Di inherited this wish to make the motherland more beautiful. He sorted out many experimental materials left by his mother, and connected some exchanges of varieties. He also took research technology and translation of foreign books and periodicals about roses as his top priority in his spare time.I deeply feel that this is the most sincere performance of a son commemorating his mother! December 2, 1978. (This article was published in "Guangming Daily" on September 14, 1980. "Chinese Rose", the first edition of China Construction Industry Press in August 1980.)
