Chapter 5 "Nara's Way Out" Preface

I met Lin Peizhi in my first year of teaching at Yanda University—1926—at that time she was a very quiet, gentle, and elegant girl. We often had opportunities to talk after class. Everything about her, Can get my love. Ms. Lin started writing after the Shenyang Incident, and she has written more than ten articles. When I saw the works of "Kou Jin Jia" or "Bao Qin" in the newspaper, I would pay special attention to them. From "Dancing Queen" to "Fundraising", I felt that it was necessary for Ms. Lin's works to be published in books. Of course, her works have all the strengths of female writers. Her descriptions are very delicate and profound, and she pays attention to the couple, master and servant, and all the problems in the family. Sighs and whimpers out of time. ——Besides, Ms. Lin is so young, and her writing inevitably has the shortcomings of all female writers, but this kind of difficulty will gradually disappear with the development of age and experience.

I feel that Ms. Lin and I have similar creative experience. She wrote after "September 18th", and I wrote after "May 4th". Both were awakened by the voice of the times. She and I both wrote the due articles first, which aroused my own interest in writing. She and I were both the first to write novels about the issues of the times...but I don't want her to be like me in the future, because I haven't made any progress in the past ten years, which is what everyone agrees with. She should use me as a red light to warn of "danger" halfway! The literary world is really depressed, and female writers are especially lonely! Those who went to the country went to the country, those who put down their pens, those who died, those who disappeared, and those who disappeared, the rain beats the wind, and there is not much left. For this thriving sprout, I feel that I am incapable of writing more, but at least have the responsibility to protect and irrigate. My own experience is that readers' attention and criticism are the most violent stimulants for an author. I discussed this with Ms. Lin and submitted these ten short stories to the National Association of Young Women's Associations for publication.
