吃了晚饭，吴丹心叫上李解放，一道去大队部。两人一声不响走了好一段路，吴丹心才说话：“我的话你不听，你迟早要吃亏。”
“你是说什么？”李解放问。
吴丹心冷冷一笑：“你别以为我不知道。三队社员都在背后议论你同刘腊梅不干净！”
李解放说：“你可以调查。”
吴丹心说：“我不会调查，要调查也是县里派专案组调查。”
听了这话，李解放吓得嘴巴张得天大。
开完会，回来的路上，两人说的又是这事。只是去的时候吴丹心好像代表组织谈话，回来时就代表她个人了：“李解放你好没良心。”她的语气几乎有些哀怨。
李解放说：“我怎么没有良心？你又没有找我。”
“你就不知道找我？”吴丹心在李解放的背上狠狠擂了一拳。
李解放哎哟一声，说：“你每天都像对待阶级敌人一样对我，我敢找你？”
“我又不是今天才这样对你，你分明知道我。”吴丹心觉得好委屈似的。
李解放说：“我原先以为你是演戏给别人看的，这一段我觉得你真的是想把我往死里整。你没有发现？现在三队没有一个人理我，我在这里哪里还像个工作队员？简直就是地富反坏右。”
“我看你同地富反坏右也差不多！天天同那女人搞在一起！”吴丹心又说起腊梅了。
李解放有些恼火了，说：“搞什么搞？其实腊梅只是不像他们那样狗眼看人低，没有同我黑脸。”
吴丹心抓他的肩膀，问：“那你说，你是想她还是想我？”
“当然想你呀。”李解放狠狠地捏捏她的乳房。
吴丹心踢了他一脚，说：“想我我现在就要！”
“你敢？山上有社员打野猪！一枪来弹掉两个！”李解放狡黠地笑笑。
吴丹心很难受的样子，弯着腰撑撑肚子，说：“那就快点回去，去我那里。”
李解放说：“你那床板太响了。”
吴丹心说：“响就响！我这些天晚上都没有睡着，夜夜起来打老鼠。”
李解放道：“好吧，就去你那里打老鼠吧。”
今天是重阳节，腊梅偷偷告诉李解放，说她晚上给他送鞋来，还有重阳糍粑。李解放吓得脸铁青，连说人多眼杂，不太好不太好。腊梅就叫他晚上去井边，她带他去个清净地方。他怕晚上吴丹心找他，就说晚一点，越晚越好。腊梅说，那就干脆下半夜，鸡叫二遍的时候。
李解放早早地睡下了，留心着鸡叫。可他没有听鸡叫估时间的经验，弄不准什么时候是鸡叫头遍，什么时候是鸡叫二遍。心想如果自己迟了，让腊梅三更半夜在外面傻等着，多造孽！可他又怕去早了，吴丹心来敲门他又不在房间。扒在窗户上看看外面，再听听，不见一丝动静。天气慢慢凉了，山里人睡得早。他便轻轻起床，想去吴丹心那里了却一下。一敲门，吴丹心在里面轻轻说：你回去睡吧，我今天身上来了。
李解放这下放心了，并没有回房，也不管早晚，径直往井边走去，他想宁可自己等腊梅，也不能让一个女人摸着黑等他。
不想他还没到井边，就听得一个女人的声音：“李同志！”
原来腊梅早等在这里了。
你这么早就来了？李解放说。
腊梅说：“我想了想，知道你们城里不习惯听鸡叫，估不着时间，万一来早了，难得等。”
李解放心想这女人心真细，很有些感动。两人不再说话，腊梅无声地伸过手来，牵着他走。天很黑，他不太熟悉这里的路。腊梅手心有些发汗，李解放觉得自己的背膛也在发热。腊梅领着他走
