Chapter 31 Chapter 27 The Choice of Conscience

"Lucky for you, the giant has decided to join you," said Obard as he walked into Argen's camp. The orc king pointed to the position on the west ridge, and Getty's frost giant was busy setting up the catapult. "They're on your side, not bad." Both Argen and Getty, who was standing next to Obard, heard the sarcasm in the Beast King's words. This passage obviously shows that Obard already knows that Getty and Argen want to join forces to get rid of his control. "I wouldn't refuse valuable help," replied Argon, keeping his eyes on Gerty. "Help to win without relying on Obard?" said the Beast King, and Argen and Getty couldn't help but shiver. "Even so, with twenty frost giants, the dwarves haven't been defeated yet?"

"I'll get them down soon," Argon insisted. "You must carry out my orders!" retorted Obard. "You don't want to see my victory?" "I don't want to see the win come if it affects my plans," Obard explained. "Everything is ready now. Let the dwarves stay up there a while longer. Gerty and I will go to the south-west and attack the canyon from the west. Then you attack, and the dwarves have no escape." He turned his eyes to Gerty, who was looking westward with an angry look on his face. "It should have been like this a long time ago." The giantess said, this sentence was more for Argen. "Tell me why you delayed?"

"The ballistas were ready two days ago," Argen yelled at her, "but the dwarves destroyed them, and your giants failed to protect them! It won't happen again!" "But there is still information that the dwarves have taken back the underground tunnel over there again." Getty reminded that this news was already a day ago. "Yes." Argen admitted. "They lost a lot of dwarves in order to regain it, but there is indeed no strategic value there. If they want to dig tunnels from there to attack the giants, they will finish the fight before they finish digging outside."

"But that's certainly not what they had in mind," she continued. "They released a foul gas in the tunnels—too bad for anyone to bear. Your orcs said the same thing. If you get any closer, you'll see their faces covered with Wearing cloth, just to resist that smell." "Would that smell drive them off the mountain?" Obard asked. "It's just a little inconvenient." Argen explained. "The dwarves certainly don't attack through the tunnels. They believe the flanks are important, but we don't attack from there. An attack on the tunnels will not relieve them, nor will they win."

Obard squinted his blood-red eyes, watching the ridge. The work of the giants continues, but in any case, the work is almost done. "My army is ten miles long," explained Obard. "As soon as you hear the war in the southwest, attack the dwarves and drive them off the cliff. Enter the trap I set up. They will be wiped out, and the glory of Mithril Hall will no longer exist." Argen looked at Gerty with a hint of shock in his expression. "All the glory goes to Obard," said the young orc, not quite sure. "Obord is Gruumsh." The Beast King corrected. "All glory to Gruumsh!"

Both his son and the giantess were startled by the roar, and King Obard departed. "His troops have multiplied several times," Getty explained to Argen. "He has more men than you. You don't even need my warriors and ballistas." "Those smelly dwarves aren't playing tricks enough to drive them off the ridge," Argo assured her. "Let the ballista destroy those dwarves! Maybe we can get over the cliff and throw stones at some of Obard's army?" "Watch what you say," Gerty warned. But she did not hide the smile on her face, Obard Arrows may be "accidentally" buried under the giant's stone. She watched King Obard leaving, the wretch trying to control all the armies in the war.

Her smile became more pronounced. "He is a fanatical believer." Innovindi explained to Drizzt, and the one-hour interrogation did not get any news from the shaman. "He won't say anything, and he's not afraid of death or pain—as long as he feels that these are serving his god, he can bear them." Drizzt leaned against the cave wall, pondering Innovindi's words. He knew that Obard was marching south—information that he knew before he caught the shaman. The only useful information I got from Argans was that Obard's son, Argen, was fighting fiercely with the dwarves at the north of Mithril Hall after capturing Shallow Water Town.

"Are you determined to go to the south?" Innovindi asked Drow softly. "Are you ready to overcome your fears and face the surviving dwarves of Mithril Hall?" Drizzt covered his eyes with his hands, trying to get the vision of Witherglu's Wizard Tower falling out of his mind.He knew that once he went to Mithril Hall, he would definitely hear these news. He didn't want to hear it at all. "Go south." Drow replied. "We have a settlement with Obard, and Pegasus is still in his hands. I mean, we have to get Pegasus back and make Obard pay for it."

Innovindi smiled and nodded, and Drizzt looked at the small room next to him, where the shaman was being locked up. "How about this?" he asked. "Carrying him will only drag us down." Innovindi stood up without saying a word. She picked up the bow and walked to the entrance of the room. "Innovindy?" asked Drizzt. She took out an arrow and put it on the bow. Drizzt heard a bowstring snap, and another, and another. "I'm much more merciful than them, at least this way of death is painless." The elf replied, with no wavering expression on his face.

She looked at Drizzt, and there was a groan coming from the room.Innovindi dropped her bow, drew out her rapier, and walked straight in. Her behavior baffled Drizzt. He thought of a goblin he knew before, a slave killed at will by his human master. But Drow quickly stopped thinking about it.The creature that was slain was not like a goblin: a zealot of an evil god, an orc shaman born for destruction, whose eyes were nothing but looting and looting.Drizzt knew that there was nothing wrong with Innovindi's behavior, which, as she herself said, was more merciful than the behavior of the orcs.

He started packing his things and it was time to go. Maybe it's too late. Regis sat in the dark, thinking of his time with Bruenor. How many days had they returned to Icewind Dale together, how many times Bruenor had found him sitting on the shore of Lake Dourden, idly fishing—or at least pretending to be fishing.Bruenor had scolded him harshly, and those words still echoed in Regis' ears. "Ha! Gluttonous ghost! You are the laziest person I know, you don't care about anything!" There was a slight smile on the halfling's face, and Bruenor would always plop down next to him and "show me what to do." Those happy days in Icewind Dale came to Regis's mind one by one. Bruno is still alive.Regis suspected that Cadio and Orator were still coming to heal him late every night, casting healing spells on him. They didn't follow orders - they admitted it quite frankly - and Regis' status as Regent seemed to be little deterrent to the two priest leaders of Mithral Hall. Even so, Regis is grateful for the choice they made.He wondered what it would be like to hear of Bruno's death. But Regis couldn't quite agree with the two priests either: Bruenor must survive for Mithral Hall. They argue over Bruenor's symbolism, but it's clear that in Regis' mind Bruenor shouldn't be anyone's king. No king would lie in bed like this while his people are fighting bloody battles and making sacrifices every moment. "This is the answer." Regis said softly in the dark room. He sat up, staring intently into the darkness. There will be more choices. Various thoughts were churning and colliding in Regis's mind, and a new idea came to him, and he sat up straight. He thought of Cadio and the Orator's words, of his time with Bruenor, of the old dwarf's stubbornness, pride, loyalty, and generosity. In the darkness, Regis found the answer, a method acceptable to both the heart and consciousness. The courage and determination that had been dormant in the halfling's heart suddenly awoke. Regis, the Regent of Mithril Hall, rushed out of the room like a wind, through the tunnel, and rushed towards Cadio Muffinhead's room.
