In the summer of 1990, at a symposium held in Jinan, an old writer said to me: "Liu Yumin, you are very lucky. So many predecessors, leaders and experts care about your work so much. It’s not easy.” That really expressed my inner feelings at the time.Not long afterward, at another symposium held in Beijing, my inner feeling became more and more intense. Indeed, I am lucky, lucky. It has been published for less than a year, and it is beyond my expectation that it has aroused such a warm response among the literary and art circles and readers.This made me feel encouraged and spurred, and also made me learn and comprehend a lot of beneficial things from it.I know that whether the praise or criticism is not only aimed at this work and the life characters reflected in the work, what is more expressed is people's sincere and true reflection of the times and the people's aspirations. The expectations and calls of literary works.

My luck, my luck, should be attributed to this sincerity and truth above all.Only when a writer is sincere can he win the trust of readers; only when a work is true can it resonate with readers.This is an overused tune, but it is also an evergreen tune.As long as life exists, sincere and authentic literature will exist and be welcomed. This is an iron law that does not depend on any person or doctrine. Sincerity and truth is such an easy thing!I only hope that I will always maintain a sincere heart, regard the pursuit of "amazing truth, strength and beauty" (Gorky's words) as a goal, and embrace life and literature as always and unremittingly.As a series of novels reflecting the changing life in rural areas in the new era, it is only the first one.I hope that in the years to come, I will not disappoint the luck given by many predecessors, experts and readers.
