鱼和豆腐萝卜煮着吃，叫新鲜吃。先切成块，放盐、酱油、味精，盆里一搅，水开了下锅，放红辣椒粉。炸鱼也吃，放点面粉和盐，一搅，半锅油烧热。腌鱼也做，上午腌下午吃，有一种吃法叫爆腌鱼。 腌鱼有很多水，腊鱼要晒干。把五脏和鳞都去掉，在通风的地方吹干，再放缸里放盐，一层鱼一层盐，腌肉也这样。腌出很多水，有太阳就拿出来晒，晒干留着慢慢吃。 走亲戚给腊肉，腊鱼比腊肉好，不给人。一般第一次去人家家里，给新鲜肉，第二次给方便面、苹果。 霉干菜家家户户都做，现在没有多人喜欢吃。分干腌菜和湿腌菜，干腌菜用箩卜缨和芥菜做，洗了，晒半干，放锅里过一下，再放缸里，用面杖使劲压紧，有许多水，用稻草封住口，扣过来，一夜水就干了，第二天用大锅蒸熟，再用晒腔晒干。芥菜比箩卜缨好吃。 湿腌菜用白菜做，一洗，晒半干，放缸里或桶里，烧开水，放上一袋盐，把开水晾凉，泡上，泡到第二天就能吃了，黄的。 除了生吃，还有五六种吃法。都叫苕果。煮熟晒半干，剪成丝，用河里的沙子炒。第二种是生的切成薄片，放开水锅里烫熟，放晒腔里晒干。第三种是去皮，切碎，煮熟，放切碎的桔子皮，在锅里煮熟，用铲子捣成一个粑，像面团似的，盛在盆里，用稻草垫着，现在用地膜，上面再用地膜盖上，再用啤酒瓶压开，桌子多大就压多大，再晒干。下午就可以剪，剪成三角形，再晒一天就可以了。第四种是生的放锅里，糯米也放锅里煮熟，放被子上，把被子弄湿，铺在屋顶上，用泥工用的烫子，烫薄，用油炸着吃。第五种，把米和苕掺着捣碎，像米粉似的，在锅里一烫，掀起来，晾干，剪成三角形，也可以炸，也可以用沙子炒，沙子用最细的筛筛掉，留下不粗不细的，筛子是专用的，叫泡儿筛。沙子留着，第二三年都能用。 做馒头、千层饼，抹上一层油一层糖，卷起来，放锅里油煎，都爱吃。 饺子叫包面，像馄饨，皮厚一点，馅放肉末葱酱盐味精，打一个鸡蛋，有地菜，就放一点地菜。 来客人了招待面条，女婿到丈母娘家，做包面。第一次到丈母娘家不能吃鸡蛋，不然就 "断了"。（湖北话，蛋与断同音） 炖肉，切成坨炖，只放盐。不老肉，一滚就吃。炒，切成片，先放酱油盐味精，一拌就炒。做面，客人来了下面，面里放肉，叫下肉吃。卤肉，有卤料卖的，一袋，里头有八角桂皮朝天椒，用布包好，锅里放点水，放酱油，炖两三个小时就好了。过年才卤，卤猪头肉、猪耳朵、猪尾巴，来客了喝酒。卤猪肠洗的时候要放面粉和盐，缩得厉害，老话说：好吃的大娘不买肠，两尺煮成一尺长。 卤好就放在洗脸盆里，或者罅子里，不盖。 直接往水里一打，叫"放水蛋"，这样一般是每人吃一只，也有人不舍得吃。整个煮，叫整蛋。炒鸡蛋也是放点葱。煎
