果然，听完了齐春海的诉说，关镇山走到刘闯面前，脸色一沉斥责道：“老三，这就是你的不对了，咱们木帮向来是注重义气，你怎么和你二哥刀枪相见？即便是买卖的事情谈不拢，咱们坐下来好生商量嘛！把你的人先带走，然后到我那里坐坐。”
换做以往，刘闯可能就忍下这口气了，但这次他是铁了心斗到底，脸色也随之一变，义愤填膺地说：“大哥，老二的所作所为您就是看不见，也总该听得见吧，他背地里挖墙脚，把我的买卖都夺去了，你让我的手下怎么过活？我刘闯为了咱们木帮、为了大哥你出生入死，哪个累活我都是冲在最前面，我别的不要，就要大哥你能一碗水端平！今天晚上，我就是要大哥主持个公道，要不然我带着我的手下立马走人，哪怕是进山当绺子（土匪），我也不在这儿受窝囊气了！”
关镇山没料到刘闯竟然连他的面子也不给，张口说出这一番强硬的话来，一时间竟语塞了。正这时，一阵摩托车声“突突突”地传来，紧跟着一排枪声在夜空中炸响。从枪声来判断，正是日本鬼子的三八大盖发出来的。
刘闯和齐春海心头都是一喜。齐春海乐的是宪兵队的救星到了，刘闯喜的则是计划终于到了收尾的时候。两人正思忖间，一队宪兵队的士兵已跑步赶到，明晃晃的刺刀闪着寒光，将两方人马立刻分开，一辆摩托车也急驰过来。
齐春海认得带队前来的是一个叫铃木的少佐，忙一溜小跑迎了上去。刘闯哼了一声，把孙大个子等几个头目叫到身边，低声道：“一会儿少不了要被押走，进了宪兵队咱们立刻服软，犯不着跟小鬼子较劲，那是拿鸡蛋碰石头。只要熬过这一两天，好日子就来了！”
果然，他话音刚落，铃木少佐就耀武扬威地走了过来，没等刘闯开口，一个大嘴巴就扇了过来！刘闯晃了几下，勉强站住，擦着嘴角的血的工夫，铃木已怒喝道：“来人，把为首的这几个人全部带走！”
刘闯没反抗，束手就擒，只是被押着走过齐春海身旁时微微笑了一下。齐春海有点纳闷，因为刘闯的微笑和眼神中充满了同情，仿佛他齐春海倒是被押走的那个人。
这个晚上齐春海很久才睡着。对于刘闯，他十分了解，这个看起来五大三粗的三当家实际上心眼很多，怎么会突然选择了这么唐突、激烈的手段呢？难道他没想过后果吗？即便没有宪兵队介入，他这么一闹就等于和关镇山翻了脸，连半点退路都没了，刘闯为什么要这样做呢？
再一想到刘闯最后的那一抹古怪的笑容，齐春海莫名其妙地觉得有些不安，甚至恐惧了，这感觉越来越强，火炉虽然把屋子烧得热乎乎的，他的身子却一阵阵寒战。
刘闯在宪兵队没有遭太大的罪。除了在被押解的路上挨了几巴掌，被踹了几脚以外，身上再没别的伤痛。这要归功于他的态度。一进宪兵队的审讯室，他就告起了饶，而且鼻涕一把泪一把地诚恳至极。
“这件事是我昏了脑子，我认罚认打，只要能放我回去，我一定做大日本帝国、满洲国的安分臣民！”
“少佐，您就大人不记小人过，饶过我这一回，等我回去了立刻筹备罚金孝敬您和宪兵队！”
诸如此类的低声下气的话搞得负责审讯的铃木少佐一阵阵迷糊，他不禁纳闷：齐春海的人不是说这个刘三爷嚣张霸道、有反满情绪吗？怎么看起来比齐春海还要懂事听话呢？打他一顿的目的无非是让他长点记性、逼他多交罚金，既然他这么明白事理，还上什么刑？我也犯不上大晚上在这里“陪”他，关押他几天就算了。
想到这儿，铃木一撇嘴：“既然你知道好歹，我也就暂时饶你一晚上，明天你让人把罚金拿来，再视你的认罪态度处罚！”
说完，他冲手下一挥手：“把他和其他人关进牢房！”
刘闯乐了，忙不迭地千恩万谢一番，乖乖地随着卫兵进了牢房。躺到宪兵队大牢那潮湿腥臭的烂草垫子上，刘闯的几个手下愤愤地嘟囔着，刘闯却美滋滋地合上眼，不一会儿就打起了鼾声，孙大个子和大烟袋锅子冲旁人摆摆手：“行啦，咱们遭两晚上罪，等出去以后就过好日子了，三爷要是心里没数，能睡得这么香？”
这话不假，不过只说对了一半。要是刘闯知道第二天发生的事情，他肯定会乐得三天三夜也合不上眼。
当刘闯躺在宪兵队的大牢里酣然入睡的时候，小林觉草拟的报告已经变成了电文传送到了新京的日本关东军陆军总部。一个小小的警察厅科长贪污受贿不是大事，但如果和国民党特工联系到一起，就变成了天大的大事。再加上吉村秀藏和金荣桂相继呈送的证据，不出一个小时，松泽园治和岛本正一就被连夜召集起来，参加了紧急会议。
