In October 2006, it was a sunny afternoon.Sitting in the Beijing home of Taiwanese musician Su Lai, I wept when I talked to two people: one was Lai Xi'an (writer Li Tong), the lyricist of "Yueqin" and "End Movie", and the other was Xue Yue.Twenty years ago, Lai Xi'an came to Beijing to receive the Children's Literature Award (presented by Deng Xiaoping), and he borrowed from Su Lai before leaving.Su Lai gave him his best coat, and a leather bag that was worth six or seven thousand Hong Kong dollars that he just bought from Hong Kong.After returning to Taipei from Beijing, Lai Xi'an happily reported that this outfit made him very popular in Beijing. Su Lai wanted to give him the bag at that time, but Lai Xi'an firmly refused.Su Lai still sent the leather bag to him, and in this way, Lai Xian used it for twenty years.In the commemorative performance of Lai Xi'an's death, Su Lai saw that the bag was placed in a conspicuous position on the stage.When Xue Yue was mentioned, Su Lai narrated the process of their acquaintance and the 5,000-word copy he had written for Xue Yue.Before his death, Xue Yue called and begged Su Lai not to visit him, because, "I don't want you to see me as I am now".What made my eyes wet with tears was that after Su Lai was silent, he said softly: "Xue Laoyue, I still miss him." I recited the poem Su Lai wrote to Xue Yue: "You missed our middle age , Old age, the long river of life, the inadvertent turns, and the plains flowing quietly." Su Lai was very surprised.I told him that when my father passed away, the word "we" was removed, and I used this poem as my signature on MSN space for a long time.

Su Lai, who decided to stay away from music, still wrote a new song in 2006, which is "How Can I Tell You" on the title page. In June, the magazine’s 25th anniversary commemorative concert, facing Taiwan’s gradually declining vitality, the organizer asked Su to write a song to cheer for Taiwan, “I found the guitar again, and when I played it, my hands were covered with calluses again. It's been a long process—if I hadn't come to Beijing, I wouldn't be able to write lyrics like this." Su Lai said in the opening remarks of the show: "I haven't written a song for six years. In the past six years, it has changed for me personally. A lot, this land has changed even more. From the beginning I would be angry and sulky, to now I don’t say anything. The time I live in Taiwan is getting less and less. I thought I had no singing voice. Until I picked up a pen, Only then did I realize that my feelings for this land are so deep, so deep..." "You ask me what is good about Taiwan, and I am silent, what is good about Taiwan?" The first sentence of the lyrics is a question mark, and thus unfolds A six-minute narrative.Unlike Su Lai's previous works, this song is closer to the rock style, and the musicians are Xue Yue's former musicians.At the end, Su Lai added a Taiwanese ballad "Country Song" written 70 years ago: "Go out early and the sky is getting brighter, it's getting brighter..." Those fragments of the past years floated in and out of the singing.I felt that strange mood, but how should I tell you?The lingering two words: Taiwan.

I am not talking about anything else, I am telling a very important emotion, which is getting clearer and clearer, but also more and more at a loss. Because of writing this book, I was able to meet Yang Xian, Hu Defu, Su Lai, Li Jianfu, Chen Sheng, Tao Xiaoqing, Lai Shengchuan, which is the deepest memory in my ten years of interview experience.Because of work, I once interviewed Tan Jianchang, Xiaoxuan, Fei Yuqing, Li Zongsheng, Zhou Huajian, Xu Huanliang, and got a lot of information that I didn't know before.Because of folk songs, I met Mr. Zhang Zhaowei from Taiwan, and we became good friends in life. The exchange and interaction at the spiritual level was very warm and unforgettable.

In September 2006, I met Yang Xian in Beijing.In my interview list, there was no Yang Xian's name, because it was too impossible.Unexpectedly, I saw Yang Xian and Lai Shengchuan at the same time, as well as Ding Naizhu who had admired his name for a long time. When I shook hands with Yang Xian, I didn't feel strange, he had seen my writing on him before.His hair is just as messy as when he was young, and he used to brush it back a few times when he was thinking.Starting from folk songs, it is more about spiritual guidance. Yang Xian is just like I imagined, not making noise, and his eyes are calm.

Yang Xian and I changed three places to chat, and the last place was to accompany Lai Shengchuan in an interview with a certain magazine.It was such a coincidence that "Rondo" rang on the reporter's computer. Yang Xian's first reaction was to touch his cell phone, and then he realized that it wasn't the cell phone's ringtone.I went to inquire why the reporter had "Rondo" in his computer, but it turned out that he was an admirer of Yang Xian and an old acquaintance of mine, so I was delighted. Driving Yang Xian to another place, he couldn't help but say to him: You are sitting in the seat where Hu Defu used to sit.

In July 2006, Hu Defu held a small concert in Beijing.As soon as Mr. Hu sang the first sentence, I burst into tears and couldn't stop it.I still remember talking until dawn, Beijing's Houhai was shrouded in fog.I drove Teacher Hu back to the hotel to pack my luggage. When we said goodbye, feeling the warmth of Teacher Hu's cheek, we hugged silently.He stood at the door of the hotel, smiling brightly like a child, and I smiled too, but felt a little pain in my heart. That memory was turned into an article "Hu Defu: This is the furthest journey, I came to the place closest to you", which was later reposted by the Yehuoji website.

I couldn't interview more people, couldn't get more information, and left a lot of regrets for this book.Thanks to Zhaowei's previous work, I was able to complete the work with a clear context, and at the same time mastered a lot of background information that was difficult to find.I have to mention that the induction of the three main lines of "Chinese modern folk songs, Tamkang--"Summer Tide", and campus songs" began with Zhang Zhaowei. In 1992, Zhang Zhaowei, who was studying for a master's degree at the Institute of History of Tsinghua University in Taiwan, spent four years writing "Who Sings His Own Song Over There--The History of the Development of Modern Folk Songs in Taiwan in the 1970s", which was originally a master's thesis and was published as a book in 1994 In 1999, it was selected into Taiwan's "Times' annual best book list".This book was republished by Rolling Stone Culture in 2003 and was renamed "Who Sings His Own Song Over There--History of Taiwan's Modern Folk Song Movement".If you want to study the history of Taiwanese culture and music in the 1970s, this is a must-see bibliography.I once asked Zhao Wei why he started to classify folk songs.After a moment of silence, he said: "Because no one has done it before." Zhao Wei, who moved to Beijing, once said in an email: "I have always appreciated your concern for Taiwanese customers like me, and I am sending this article to you and some friends. , I hope you can understand part of the reason why people like me have to leave their hometowns.” That article was “We Wait for the Spring and Swallows of Culture” written by Zhang Dianwan for Taiwan’s Vision magazine.

I respect and admire Zhao Wei's "thinking about Taiwan's current political issues through seemingly irrelevant things, and even the riddles caused by capitalist civilization" ("Alien Elements" Chen Guangxing). It is inevitable to lament that it is difficult to reach. In 1992, Zhao Wei intended to "understand the history of the 1970s earlier than my generation through the phenomenon of music". Not enough. Chapter 8: Preface to the Eternal Song of Weiyang (2) More than ten years ago, I was influenced by Taiwanese culture far away and embarked on the road of writing.It may not be easier to walk than the road of love words. Every time an article is completed, or every relationship ends, what is always grieving is that I am not good enough.

The book was written for three years and was shelved for a year.When the first draft was completed, in October 2004, Taiwanese musician Liang Hongzhi died of illness.My regret is that there is an added layer of regret for not being able to personally interview. There must be some history that disappeared with Liang Hongzhi's departure. And my father who passed away in June 2005. I held his hand the next afternoon when I worked all night and couldn't go to the hospital as planned. Seeing him dying in pain, I finally broke down and cried bitterly.The tears of relatives should not be stained on the skirts of those who went, but the father walked very steadily. His last sentence was: They are all good children.This is the eternal pain of half my life, the pain of not being able to exchange for him.My father’s laissez-faire and love for me since I was a child, and the fact that he taught me not to regret when I was 15 years old, made me learn to think when faced with choices, and made me the person I am today who can like myself.I hope he still loves me in that distant place, for this reason, I am living very hard.

With limited skills, this book is lackluster in writing skills.When Huanxi inexplicably agreed to write this book, she was quite clueless.Now that it is completed, I don’t need to mention all the sufferings I have experienced, but I can’t breathe as I hoped before. Yes, I just can’t stand that I am not good enough. Writing is a process of enjoying and enduring loneliness. I still need to allocate more time to loneliness before I can enjoy it. Singing the beautiful island of benevolence and peace, the beautiful island here is not the beautiful island of Luo Dayou, but the beautiful island of Li Shuangze, Hu Defu, and Yang Zujun. It is the beautiful island that the folk song movement has not yet realized. I only hope that someone can fall in love with a certain piece of music in the past, or fall in love with a certain person, or know a piece of history that has never been experienced, even if it is just to say "that's how it is". As long as there is a campus, as long as there is music, as long as there are people who love music, folk songs will never really stop, so I call it "Weiyang Song", and at the same time borrow the name of the accompanying booklet from the golden rhyme award commemorative album published by Rolling Stone --"Forever Weiyang Song". A friend said: Music has extravagant demands on time.When reading a book or a movie, you can skip a certain section without loss, but you must listen to music in its entirety, otherwise it is not counted as listening, and you don’t know if it is good or not. The extravagant demand of music on time is like the extravagant demand of human beings on life. It is impossible to skip a certain section.
