Chapter 39 Ephraim of Jericho
When he came to Jericho again, I found him and said to him, "Master, tomorrow my son is going to marry a wife. I invite you to come to the wedding feast tomorrow, just as you once came to the wedding feast of Thona in Galilee."
He replied, "It is true that I was a guest at the wedding banquet, but I am no longer a guest, and now I am the bridegroom myself."
I said again: "I beg you, Master, light; come to my son's wedding feast!"
He seemed to be blaming me and said with a smile: "Why do you ask me, isn't your wine enough?"
I said, "Master, my wine jar is full, but I beg you to come to my son's wedding feast."
He said, "Who knows? Maybe I will come, maybe I will come, if your heart is an altar in your temple."
The next day, my son got married. But Jesus did not come to the banquet. Although the house was full of guests, I felt as if no one had come.
In fact, I was not there to entertain the guests.
Perhaps, when I invited him, my heart had not yet become an altar; perhaps, I was expecting another miracle.
